I wish everyone had your attitude, Marcus. Thankyou. And I actually quite like the picture, the downed Tripod in the distance looks good also.

They are the strange armature looking tripods from the magazine. However I did notice that the lower legs of the tripod are similar to that of the trailer. I think the new photo represents the period of time when the narrator is heading home. He obviously has stumbled across some wreckage on the way there. Well.. that is my theory.

I have just examined this photo side by side with the one from the magazine and that is indeed the same type of tripod. The one in the new photo actually has its back to us, with it's rear leg shooting off to the bottom right corner and "heat ray" slumped on the other side of the "body". The narrator would be looking at the underside of the head. God knows what happened to the one in the background. It appears to be facing sort of belly-up, which seems a strange way to collapse.

The Tripods appear to have one leg at the fronts, with two at the back.
They then have a waist like area, thats conected to the main head.
The main head appears dome shaped, like the Praying Mantis ones we saw, split in the middle, with, Im guessing the Martian sat within that area.
Also, the one on its back seems logical, it was dying, the Martian lost controled, reared it up onto one leg, and it feel backwards. Very cool if you ask me.

Hate to put a dampener on things but that picture looks suspiciously like one of those crap looking tripods that we've seen recently - and notice the way they emphasize 'SELECT THEATRES'. I actually really like that picture. I think that design of tripod can work, I really do. Mind you, I am barking mad.

Jeez guys, it's like listening to children in a playground!
I'm reserving judgement on the film for when I've actually watched the whole thing. If at that time I decide that you bunch o' peeps were right then by all means, come round and kick me in the plums... Until then...

I agree. I just happen to think that that photo is pretty dire and I really don't like the chicken FMs. I just hope the trailer is better. If and when the thing is released, I'll get me a copy and judge properly from there.

[glow=purple,2,300]Firstly, many thanks to Gnorn for posting this.
Nice to know Pendragon have a direct link to Amazon to buy the DVD - makes it more certain it wil be released on 14 June. A new trailer - I won't hold my breath though - dunno if I want to see one now - I think I'd rather wait a couple of weeks for the DVD to drop thru my letterbox!
On to the pic - I know there will be some negative comments over this. It does look like the Preying Mantis design - although the tripod in the distance looks like the legs are stretched. Perhaps they only go into 'chicken mode' when lowering the hood to the ground to allow ingress? They'll probably look more impressive at full height. I notice on the underside of the nearest tripod you can see those hemispheres which are also on the base of the HM - nice link between the two. At least the pic isn't in sepia (as mentioned in the CFQ article), which was a major worry for me. Perhaps the actual FMs are a sort of sepia color? In the original trailer, the glimpse of the lower leg is glittering metal - the pic shows the tripods more bronzed - unless this is just a sunset shot, as the Narrator is also looking mightily bronzed (Good Lord - it's Doc Savage! Pur yer shirt on!).
Actually, the FMs look better in this pic. I think they'll look much better than we think when we see them in action! [/glow]

Thanks Gorn. I've got to disagree with the negs. The FMs look great in the new photo. They're still hard to define, but I can get a sense of the legs now, which are in three segments. The lower legs on the FM in the background are consistant with the FM that steps over the cannon in the earlier trailer.
Thanks T. Hines. Like it or not, we're going to have a live-action WOTW set in the Victorian period. That fact alone gets my respect. Whether some here consider it good or bad has always been beside the point. We'll now have moving images to compare with our own imaginations.
Something curious happened late last night (June 2, US EST). I went to the Stuffo site, and when I brought up the trailer page, a yellow box appeared with a prompt to see the Pendragon Trailer. Before I could click, it disappeared and was replaced with the movie title and old pre-production art. Damn!
Looks like we'll all be talking about the new trailer by this time tomorrow.

[glow=purple,2,300]I dunno - I don't know how Primrose Hill looked 107 years ago from every direction!
More likely it's Maybury Hill, or somewhere along the route as the Narrator plods back to Woking.[/glow]

Just now I looked over the Stuffo website to figure out what time zone they were in, and it turns out that their office is about two miles from where I'm typing this.
Here it's Friday morning June 3. I figure if they're working from here and going to get the trailer up today, it'll happen before they knock-off at 5:00. That's less than ten hours from now. ;D

No one would have beleived, in the last hours of June 3rd, that the stuffo website was being watched by the timeless worlds of the WOTW forums. Few men even considered the possibilty of an update, and yet across the gulfs of the internet, minds immeasurably similar to ours regarded the forums with envious eyes...and laughed their heads off cos there won't be no damn trailer!
