So, you reckon the Directors Cut will have these amazing things in or whut? Blimey, this takes me back: Timothy Hines adds, "WAR OF THE WORLDS is going to feel as reality. Using miniatures and actual locations will help to anchor this. Also, it's easier for the actors when they can react to actual trucks being dropped from cranes onto parked cars and full-scale sections of the alien fighting machines whipping past their heads as opposed to starring into a blank green walls. H. G. Wells would be very pleased as to how we are honoring his visions." Casting is still in progress as Timothy Hines insists on having the best and the most natural actors possible to fill out his production. "Ultimately the human element is everything..."As for the new cut, even Charles Keller, one of Little Timbo's staunchest supporters, has had to admit elsewhere on this site that all it consists of is some of the interminable walking cut out. No tarted up fx. No Improved Chunder Child. Bugger all new, in fact.

I've noticed this article doing the rounds on several news sites regarding the Directors cut......
As Tom Cruise's WAR OF THE WORLDS exits the theaters, the only true movie adaptation of the H.G. Wells classic novel, produced by Pendragon Pictures, continues enjoying strong DVD sales in the U.S. and Canada. Now, Pendragon Pictures announces the international release of the Director's Cut of H.G. WELLS' THE WAR OF THE WORLDS. The never-before-seen Director's Cut features new enhanced special effects, new scenes and faster pacing. Director Timothy Hines comments, "I had the opportunity to re-cut the film for the foreign release and subsequent U.S. distribution and I'm proud of the end result. Virtually every scene in the film has been reconceived and retimed from the original Summer release. It plays remarkably better.
Sounds promising, but who's betting that "enhanced special effects" means a blue tint to the Thunderchild sequence instead of a sepia one.

Translation: Never-before-seen = Nor will you want to New enhanced special effects = The Writers moustache has been digitally replaced with a CGI model New scenes = Further mealtimes with the Writer, the Wife and the Maid, and what they did next Faster pacing = The walking scenes are at double speed Every scene reconcieved = We originally thought the scenes looked like Matrix. We now think they are sh1te Every scene retimed = We cut each scene at the point we began to snore
Honestly, I'll believe it when someone's seen it. It sounds good...but so did the blurb for the original.

No they were very quick to put the money back! I did get the original etc through Amazon but the DC is available through Pendragon. As for those who want to sn1gger about this. The bad news is, the only faithful version of WOTW is Timbos effort. Ive got all three films and Ive watched that version far MORE times than the others. Admittedly reedited by myself. But the film is far stronger than it appears. Even if timbo has only ommitted several scenes it would be a better film. As for SS version. 140 million and many people I know have said it's pants! The asylum version I have to say fair play to the writers. It is very faithful to the original in many cases but I didn't like it any more than PP.
