Hats-off to Robkral for the specific suggestions. Thanks! But you must also take note that Maniacs actually spent time editing a version for himself, and outlined what he did in another thread. He posted what he did and it's very interesting. (POST WAS LOCKED due to folks asking for copies, so please lets not go there again, but read his thread for what he did which sounds cool).

It was Hines who claimed that the vfx equalled anything from the 'Star Trek' films and 'The Matrix' (maybe he meant the Nintendo games?). Thats a nasty stab, Nintendo revolutionised console gaming in the 1980's. Games wouldn't be what they are now without them. Even today they are often the most up to date with gaming technology, it's just that most of the masses can't appreciate many of their games. Back to the point though, I don't mind a re-edit as long as they don't make another one, and another one etc. Thats a shame, Im looking forward to 2031 for the Re-Re-Re-Re-Re-Re-Re-Re-Re-Re-Re-Re-Re-Edit, its only 3 minutes and 24 seconds long, the cylinder lands.......then they die..........the end...........thank god for that!!

Some of you folks who say you're glad that Hines has "listened to the fans", how do you know that? Where's the press release/webpage saying that? How do you know he's not just trying to get you to pay twice for the same ole shyte?

How do you know he's not just trying to get you to pay twice for the same ole shyte? No one knows anything definitively yet. Everyone is speculating based on the comments by Charles Keller at the beginning of this thread. He said there was a re-edited version and that it will be available soon. He also said the re-edited version was better in his opinon. Based on what Charles said the main focus of the re-edit was (better editing and effects) it SOUNDS like Hines has been listening to the fans. But that is also just speculation.

A new edit with improved sfx and compositing may interest me, but I'll pass on a trimming/reordering of the footage I already have on the DVD.

I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.
Knowing Timbo's track record, I dare say it'll be delayed by the next natural disaster.
An earthquake in Chile, a flood in Bangladesh, a meteor strike in Siberia...

well my copy's coming in next week may i ask where from? Right. I believe we'd all like to know when and where we can get this new version. It would be great if Pendragon would make an announcement, or at least release a head's up to the forums. Do any of the moderators have a real inside on this? Please share...

I think the tripod designs were the worst thing. They just didn't scream H.G Wells....

I agree, they screamed 's***e'.

They screamed "Robo-mutant-turkey." Their cry shouldn't have been "Aloo!" it should have been "Gobble! Gobbl!" Or perhaps clucking........*shrugs* In actuality, to me the seemed to be based somewhat on daddy-long-legged spiders with a few legs missing, and a chicken head.

[glow=purple,2,300]So far, only Charles has seen the (first half of the) re-edit, and it will be available for the public 'very soon'.
The lack of info from Pendragon is nothing new. However, we haven't heard from Charles recently - we all want to know how the second half looks!!
I get the impression that Tim is actually working on finishing the movie. My theory is that the fim was nowhere near ready after several missed release dates, and that a 'rough cut' of all material was put together and rushed out to capitalise on the Spielberg hype. Since then, Pendragon may have been working on it, trimming it down, finishing off the FX, etc. to get the proper completed movie together. The version Charles got could be the first 'test screening' of the finished movie. Perhaps we've not heard from Charles on the second half of the movie because he's has to point out issues with the latter half that PP may be amending before issuing another re-edit to Charles.
It may sound far fetched (and like wishful thinking!), but it makes more sense. Watching the LOTR DVD extras, PJ points out that the first thing you do before editing is string the whole movie together as per the storyboard, then you begin to trim and re-order the scenes. This appears to the stage when the original PP movie was released. Then, you test screen your edited movie (the stage Tim is at now with Charles), and make changes based on the issues noted. Once everyone's happy with the format, THEN you release it.
Yes, I'm clutching at straws, as I still believe that the PP movie can be a very good adaptation given the chance. Yes, it needs to be re-dubbed, edited, 'Brave New World'/'Dead London' expanded, and the FX completed. BUT, I will save my pennies this time until I see a post from Charles reviewing the complete re-edit, and his opinion on the revised FX (esp. Thunderchild & Cardboard cut-out on bridge). If possible, I'd like to see a couple of screenshots of the (improved?) Thunderchild sequence before I purchase a re-edit.
If Tim is reading this forum, it's be nice for him (like Mr Latt) to send a copy of the re-edit to the mods of the various forums for a fair review. [/glow]

We Mods probably won't get a review copy. I gather Rob got a copy of the 'old' film and that was it. Asylum (as has been mentioned) bent over backwards to make sure we all saw their movie and David Latt, as we know, looks in on the boards and was happy to interact with the fans. Some people could learn by Asylum's example, I think. We'd love to give the new edit a fair crack. In fact, I think our Mod's reviews of the old version were pretty fair under the circumstances. I found that the 'old' version had a lot to offer, despite the obvious (and seemingly acknowledged.. otherwise, why the re-edit?) flaws. We have been told nothing about this new edit by PP directly. In other words, we know about as much as you guys do. Pity.

Some people could learn by Asylum's example, I think. ...we know about as much as you guys do. Pity. Quelle surprise. Nice to see Pendragon's mighty PR machine is as well-oiled as ever. Quite frankly, it doesn't give me any confidence in their ability to get anything else right. And the very fact that if it was an uncompleted film they still had the gall to release it is further cause for having no confidence. And to call the film 'flawed' is like saying that 6 August 1945 in Hiroshima was 'a warm day'. IMHO the film is bad on so many levels as to be unsalvageable - any re-edit would be like putting a sticking plaster on someone who's just been run over by a train.

Well, darn! Here I rushed out and found one of the "early release" copies of the film. Now I wish I'd waited!
I must say I *am* surprised. With Hines refusing to admit (at least publically) that anything was wrong with the production, I'm rather taken aback that he's re-edited it or improved the FX.
Thanx muchly for the news Charles-- and how did I miss seeing this for so long??? Murfl.
