Mr. Hines overnighted me a special re-edit of the film this weekend. I've only had the chance to watch about half of it, but it already looks much better (and is 45 minutes shorter). I'm anxious to see the second half as soon as time allows.
It will be available to the public very soon.

Flippin' heck, has he tidied up any of the sfx?
How ironic, though - this must be the first Director's Cut Special Edition to be shorter than the original!

Try as I might I just can't get any enthusiasm for this now. Maybe I'm wrong but it sounds as if the problems are too much to rectify and I still think Hines has totally misled us all. Especially making out that this was going to be competing with Spielbergs film at the cinemas with state of the art effects etc.

Flippin' heck, has he tidied up any of the sfx? Yes, he has; quite a bit from what I've seen. For one thing, the moshing skeletons are gone (and that's good!). The pacing of the story is much better overall...and there seems to be less walking, too.

I'm very excited by this news and I can't wait for a chance to see what comes of it. I bet there has been an investment into this film from a TV outlet. Possibly Sci-Fi Channel?

Theredweed, I think you need to chill out a bit before posting. What in buggery IS a 'pill of f*ck' anyway? If this film has been re-edited, could be old Hinesy has been taking note of what the fans think of the movie as originally released. Ok, maybe it's too late for some, but maybe, just maybe, a half-decent film may come from it. That's a good thing right?

Well, everybody and their mother on here seems to think they can edit the film and make it better, so why not Hinsey?

Well I'd be interested to hear a review of this re-edited version, but I honestly can't see me paying for another version...

I would. I havent't seen the original yet (although I do have it, but not a reg1 player) but if this re-edited version comes out, I'll buy it anyhoo. Thanks for the news, Charles.

The most common complaints about the film on this (and other) boards seemed to be the editing and the effects. If both have been cleaned up, it should improve the film. I'm sure Pendragon was under intense pressure from their distributor to get this thing out before Spielberg's version. I'm sure corners were cut, as a small shop like that can't just hire an army of people at the last minute to finish things up.

Well, everybody and their mother on here seems to think they can edit the film and make it better, so why not Hinsey? Not hard to drastically improve the film by removing all the walking. But the only person who can truly clean it up properly is Hines since he has all the reels, blue screens an all.

Well people have been saying that Hines never listens to anyone and when he shows that he does some of them gripe that he shouldn't have listened - just 'gone away' and they also say that he has 'totally misled everyone'. Personally I think he's probably doing his best under the circumstances. On the face of it he's prepared to plough back his small profits into doing a re-edit, something people were asking for. He might have been quiet - probably embarassed at the poor investment he's had. Projects like this only attract 'the four Fs' as investors. 'Families, friends, fools and fanatics' - at least in the first stages. It's 'Standard Operational Procedure' to talk up your project and speak of 'investment in place' because investors like to see others are interested before they cough up. If promised funds from the four Fs are not forthcoming then the initial test reel would leave a lot to be desired. The test reel was probably the poor quality trailer. Bear in mind that Lucas' test real for his backers used World War II dogfight footage so poor special effects or no special effects do not necessarily imply anything. It might have been unwise of Hines to release unfinished material but it's not unknown. Again and again I've seen nothing more than someone trying to get his project going on little investment. I don't see anyone particularly paranoid - except in the way we can all be when we've had sleepless nights and everything's gone wrong. He's rubbished the competition and talked up his own project. They teach things like that in business school. So he's been secretive? Have you never heard the expression 'No news is good news'? In my experience 'no news' means that nothing is happening but I can't blame Hines for grasping at straws and 'lying low and saying nuffink' in the hope that things will get better. And looking at some of the things people on this fourth F site have said about him I am certainly not surprised he's kept so quiet. It all recalls the old Woody Alan Joke; "The food in this prison is terrible!"/"Yes and such small portions!" Lighten up guys. It's only a movie.

Aye, some people need to give the poor guy a break. Seems like he's taken on board the critisism and trying to do something about it. What more do people want??? Blood?

A re-edit, then a re-release no doubt ... great, so I spent all that money buying it from amazon and paying the same price again on shipping and now there is a new release which is going to be better than the one i've bought .. fantastic. *thanks* mr hines.
*sigh* oh well, i'll wait and see what its like, I really hope the FX are done better, the film would be bumped up to "ok" if it was.

Ste. Or.... 'don't get mad.... get even'. I think it would be reasonable for previous customers to expect a generous discount - if not a free exchange. Why not ask if you can have an 'upgrade' as a loyal customer? Zoe

So the one's who have already bought this movie and want the 'newer' edited and WOTW fan friendly version can 'return' the old version and trade it in for the newer version - or am I wasting my time posting this?.
