The manner of his leaving was enough to constitute a ban in my opinion, and unfortunately for him I make the rules. His persistant inability to keep discussion unheated left me with little choice.
If people are unable to show respect for others opinions I will ban them too. Whether they are on the propendragon, or antipendragon side.
Enough is enough, the Pendragon forum is becoming a warzone. It will stop or I will close it.
This is not open for discussion.

Hi All,
I sincerely wish everyone well. It's been a while since I visited but other commitments must come first.
When I first looked at the title of this thread, 'Why I support Pendragon', without even going in to have a look at the posts, I kinda knew in my own mind what the contents would be. I'm sure the instigator of this thread realised that opposing views would be presented, albeit some of them strong views. Recent history on this subject shows that.
Nevertheless, arguments, debates, disagreements and heated discussions will grow and spiral, perhaps this should have been taken into consideration when this thread was started. I have seen advice, good advice which directs contributors 'to walk away from heated debate', especially when sometimes it can develop into something more and 'overheat'. Considering all the past debates that have unfolded, is there really much more to discuss on this topic? We are very much scraping the barrel, are we not?
I feel rather hurt and offended that valuable contributors that have presented valid arguments against Hines and Pendragon are now being labelled as the 'anti Hines Brigade'. In my opinion, contributors that support TWOTW but are dissatisfied with the Pendragon camp have more say on the subject, more so than Hines supporters. The fact that Hines has 'cocked' at every corner is clear evidence.
I genuinely feel for 'the Motile' and although sometimes this contributor can have 'outbursts', I understand, completely, his frustration and I'm sorry to see him go.
Hines recently publicly said that he gets 'thousands' of letters each week in support. It would be good PR to display some of them on his web site to stamp their authenticity. Considering that he has been very economical with the truth in the past, I question this. Also we are told 'late April' for some kind of release, it's all beginning to sound like 'the cheques in the post', if you know what I mean.
Regards

I think this thread has burnt out again I agree, I understand everyones frustration at the lack of news for this film, the delays etc, I feel the frustration too.
We are indeed scraping the barrel. If anyone has anything to add feel free, but please keep it on topic.

[glow=purple,2,300]I disagree. RustiSwordz sensibly created a thread "Why I do NOT support Pendragon" where the opposing view could be presented. Opposing views are welcome in either thread, but NOT when they descend into personal attacks, or deliberate goading.
As the mods have said - enough is enough. This thread is about why we support Pendragon - nothing else. So that's my last word, as I've already expressed my support previously.
As requested tho' - to lighten the mood, a little bit of Britneys Pears and her (Ode to the) Toxic (Black Smoke):
Baby, can’t you see I’m choking The smoke and dust should bear a warning The cylinders are fallin’
There’s no escape I can’t breathe I need some air, Baby, give me it It's dangerous - I’m lovin’ it
The Black Smoke rolls down covers the gound, oozing ‘round and ‘round Do you feel itnow
[Chorus] With a shot from a tripods cannister Their toxic smoke swamping over Londons turned to a poisoned paradise When they steam it to dust Don’t you know Black Smoke's toxic And I hate what they do Don’t you know Black Smoke's toxic
It’s getting late, I'm passing out I took a breath, of the thick black smog Slowly, It’s suffocating me
The Black Smoke rolls down It’s in the air and it’s all around Can you feel it now
[Chorus x3]
Asphyxiate me now With your black smoke now I think I'm ready now I think I'm ready now[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]EDIT by HTT: Ooops, Sorry Rob! I took so long typing this post, that your post went up whilst I was beavering away! Sorry for having a bit of a rant at the start.[/glow]

It's interesting to note that the 'Why I do NOT support Pendragon' thread hasn't been posted on for some time. Those who would say they do not have a voice are incorrect.. It's there but they choose not to use it. As for the labels (PHB & AHB).. I have no idea who started that, but indeed some have seen fit to use those labels to describe themselves and others. It's never as clear cut as that I agree. Personally, I too think it's a shame the Motile went. But the rules are there to be followed, and they aren't at all unreasonable. We have a responsibility to the membership as a whole to keep things on a level. As Rob has said.. the barrel is scraped and it's looking pretty threadbare. Every new bit of news is grabbed and devoured then examined microscopically. I can understand that. I too wish that PP would just hurry up and release the damn thing so we can all see it and comment properly on it. Us WotW fans are a passionate and intelligent lot.. that is true. But we must, for the sake of the board, and for our fellow members, try to keep it friendly and calm.

Hines recently publicly said that he gets 'thousands' of letters each week in support. It would be good PR to display some of them on his web site to stamp their authenticity. This hasn't been updated in quite some time, but there is a "Letters Page" at Pendragon's WotW website: www.pendragonpictures.com/WOTWfans.html

I think both films will be great in diffrent ways, but i think the best way to enjoy it is to read the book and let your imagination run wild... still scares the hell out of me when i read the book.

[glow=green,2,300] I personally feel Pendragon would have many more supporters if they were to be more consistant with the movie updates. We are only being given scraps of information, such as the teaser poster, the article in CFQ and a couple of little pictures here and there. I would support them more if they made me believe in this movie. Instead we all have to resort to conjecture and speculation which almost always ends up in negativity... You would have thought that there would have been ONE person in PP, who could speak for the company. They dont need to come onto this website to appease the fans (though, it would be nice). If PP are going to keep us all on tenderhooks, then update your webite with some more cool stuff, another theatrical trailer, what about the mythical "Production Files", "Special Effects Progress" and "Editing Room Notes" The new poster is cool but iam starting to feel that it is too little-too late... Dont wait for us to pick up a copy of CFQ magazine or scour the internet looking for shreds of evidence to suggest that this film is not a hoax!!! Come on, this is your baby PP!! tell everyone how proud you are that it is yours, you should be singing it from the rooftops, you've done a film of one of the greatest books ever!!! FFS!!! Tell people about it!!!!! ;D ;D Install confidence into those who want to see it, publicise it more!!! you dont need to do much as you are preaching to the converted!!!! Regardless of how we feel, we are all dying to see it!! From what I have seen so far, I think the film looks a bit shoddy, yep, but do you think iam going to NOT watch it?? HELL NO!! After all, this is WOTW! I am going to be in flix the day it gets released (when or if...) or failing that, the first person on Ebay to order the DVD!!! So if you aint going to release the film yet, at least let us know what's going on!!!! Ok, I have now said my bit about PP, I wish I could support them more but how can I support them if I dont know what is going on? ? [/glow]

Thats one of my bugbears: the fact that PP is behaving in such an irratic fashion.
They give us an enormous speach saying how money was no object, that they have the finest SFX people in the business yadda, yadda, yadda.
Bullcocks! However none of it was true the 40 mil went down to 12 mil and the quality ive seen i would say the truth is closer to 2 million. And im being very generous.
March 30 came and went, no cinema release then what do we find: no distributor would touch the film because its so dreadful. Then we find out that a limited DVD release is due around June to capitalise on the SS version coming out. However the release is limited to the US only due to performing rights in other countries. However ive yet to be impressed that the DVD will come out either.
Not a peep from PP: why? a) is it because they lied to us to bolster the popularity of their project and they cant admit they fecked up? b) Their project is woefully below standard, they know it and they are ashamed of it. c) They cant be bothered to talk direct to the fans because of the above reasons knowing the tide heas turned against them apart from one or two cheap standard fanboys who cant tell the difference between goumet lobster and a plate of dogfood. d) they cant talk because of legal reasons. e) two or more of the above.
I have to admit I'm as much to blame for my attitude. I grew up with a vision of seeing WOTW brought to the screen with a director of Ridley Scotts standard and a budget of 100 mil. In my opinion the story is of such classic importance that no one of a lesser calibre should be allowed anywhere near the project. However i gave TH the benefit of the doubt and look what we are getting. I have to admit TH enthusiasm swept me up in the beginning for a moment i thought the underdog could do it , but sadly no.

[glow=purple,2,300]I can't see the website being updated at all - the CFQ article shows that Tim has slapped NDAs on everyone, so that the only update to the site will have to be authorised by him - and he's not going to do that while he thinks Paramount are nicking his ideas. That probably why it says 'late April' release - coz if he's more specific, Paramount will know about it and do something on that date to block him.
I still support Pendragons version, but I think Tim needs to relax a bit more. He needs to talk to Paramount and get things sorted, rather than taking it all personally and thinking he's in the right. The problem won't go away if you ignore it, Tim.[/glow]

The only thing that PP makes me mad for is messin with my emotions.
I support this project from its birth. It then noise dives as they release the trailers but don't give any info to go on. Then the Pic of the Handling machine came along and ZOOM, my anticipation is restored. Then it falters again because they miss the deadline but now its back up because of these tripod pics.
I have read a tun of comments on Eve of the War that these designs look crap. They aren't accurate. They don't have this. What's that? But come on.
These are closer to Well's Martian Machines than SS and his transformer warrior from under the ground.
But i do agree with summit tho...CHILL TIMBO do wots right for your project and get it out there. Give old Paramount a slap in the chops. ;D

For me I go every time I connect to the internet to see if there's been an update. That's what makes me upset, that all they need to do is just put some behind the scenes stuff up and all would be cool. But I'll keep going about my daily activities; sleep, eat, work, uni and play. Hoping that 2 months will go by quickly and that 'Australia Post' will deliver a package to my door one day, invite some freinds around, stick on the DVD on my flate panel widescreen and have a good time

It's strange, despite the complete lack of anything coming from Pendragon that is still the first part of the forum I log on to. It's wishful thinking and just shows how much I want to see a faithful version because I know what a fantastic film it would make, bit sad really, the Paramount version will be great, I just know that I will watch it thinking "but if only"
