The basic probem on these boards has been for some time that generally peoples opinions are not respected. I have lost count of the number of times i have been reading through a thread and people voice concerns over the film and this is followed by maybe a page or two of repsonses telling them how they dont know what they are talking about and that its miles better than the other film that you so avidly support etc. In a community of over however many hundred ppl, we are not all going to agree, but everyone should be entitled to their opinion and if you dont agree with it then there are plenty of constructive ways to voice your disagreement without resorting to slating that persons opinion in an inflammatory manner. It also helps if opinions are not posted in an inflammatory way in the first place as well which is something else which occurs quite a lot. When it comes down to it neither of the two films is finished/released yet, so nobody is "right" and nobody is "wrong" in their views of either film, the problem is people have already made their minds up either way about each and are so convinced in their heads that they are right and the others are wrong that no1 backs down in the end and so things constantly get out of hand. Until things calm down around here i for one support the "heavy handed" modding that has been going on, since i have certainly felt less inclined to post whilst all this has been going on.

watch a Pokemon movie and ask yourself 'can someone really make a film better than THIS I watched "Alien Apocalypse" on the Sci-Fi Channel last nite. OMG that was one of the very worst movies I've ever seen. I'm sure Pendragon's WotW will be better than that. (I mean, how could it possibly not?)

[glow=purple,2,300]Well, peel my tangerines! I disappear for Easter and I miss all the excitement! I can't even comment on the new press release coz the thread's locked!!
But at last we got an official announcement - many thanks to Charles for that. I support Pendragon in that they are attempting to put one of my fave books onto screen, keeping as close to the book as possible. They may not have any PR skills, but to delay the movie for post production is a good sign - that they want to make it as good as they can without rushing it.
I would've like to see the website updated, with a new trailer and completed FX, but I'd rather they spend their time on the film and get it right. Obviously, we won't be able to tell how good it is until the DVD comes out, but at least someone is making a faithful adaptation.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]theheatray, sorry its taken so long to get round to replying (I had to accompany my mother to the coast so she could have further cancer surgery).
If you think I am biased towards one side of an argument... you've missed the point completly. The point is that there is no need for the argument in the first place.
Those who are upset, dissapointed etc with the Pendragon effort need to move on. If their emotions are too strong for them to do so then they need to learn to handle dissapointment, get some counselling etc.
Your analogy is flawed. Both children know that the lollypop is Raspberry, it's just that one likes Raspberry and the other doesn't. The child who wants Lemon doesn't have to eat or like the raspberry lollypop, but he has to realise that the other boy is entitled to do so.
That people are now avoiding this section who do want to see the film is testament to the damage done by the constant childish behaviour. With every right comes also responsibility and I challenge those who have been most at fault (irrespective of which 'side' they claim to be on) to now justify their freedom of speech with responsible action to repair the damage that they have done.[/glow]

[glow=purple,2,300]ABBA would like to support Pendragon as well:[/glow]Now past March and I'm watching the forums for some news of release How I hate to see us giving Tim Hines grief Late April Sees the film in the US with the DVD in June And it makes me so depressed to see the gloom This film should be out there Don't leave us in despair
Gimme Gimme Gimme this Pendragon Picture Won't somebody screen War Of The Worlds in't UK? Gimme Gimme Gimme an authentic movie Not some daft adaption or one set modern day
H.G.Wells Have been taken by Spielberg, with a fortune to spend It's so different from the book which is a shame Paramount Have cornered the market, and although Tim has the right, But no distribution means no film in sight This film should be out there Don't leave us in despair

Had to put in my "Abba Gold" album and sing along. Very creative, HtTripod! (Altho some of the scansion needs a bit of work.) Your riff on "Ghostbusters" was even more clever.

I am posting here on the request of Bayne, for he has known why I have stopped posting here. I am not trying to make any problems as I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I have stopped posting for two reasons. 1. In the general forum I posted a cover i had found for a new WOTW comic book for folks to enjoy. What happened shocked and saddened me, it degenerated into an ' How America is messing up the world and literature' rant against the US. All over one measly comic cover. 2. All the flaming of folks who wish to see the Pendragon version of WOTW. I have been reading WOTW since I was 6. The first time I picked up Well's seminal work was in 1968. The first time I saw the George Pal adaptation of the book, I was bitterly disappointed. Needless to say, I wish to see a WOTW movie set in Victorain England. As to me without that it is not WOTW. then I get lambasted as a fool and idiot for wanting to see Hine's attempt to do just that has put me off. So I made the decision to leave the board, even though Bayne and Demon Angel are my friends. I just did not wish to participate in the blatant attempts by some to brow beat others into their point of views without allowing them to have their own opinions.
And yes you will see one post by me, but it was to show that my love of WOTW will keep me making the best WOTW for a game I can.
Cheers And godspeed Thorgrimm
