Then there's the whole issue of whether or not the Hines film is in violation of the WOTW novel copyright in the UK and Europe. I have no trouble beleiving that Pendragon did not do much legal reseach and just assumed that because WOTW (the novel) was in public domain in the US it was in public Domain anywhere. Hines might not have the legal right to release a WOTW film in the UK...

I dont think that makes a difference, we know they cant release anything outside of the US or else Paramount would sue them. So now its a 'maybe' situation if this film is released on the mega cheapo label and to be hones I dont care one little bit, its like getting excited about the cheap toys on the toy stall at the local cheapo market, you know the ones I mean, the tranformers rip offs where the legs fall off. Tat, crap ypu just wouldnt buy even though it had the same title. Its the same thing, this film is a cheapo rip off, a fake movie wan'a'be.

motie is right. Hinds had his chance, and most of us, (not me included) gave him that chance. but he blew it.
motie and myself were right all along over this, and yet i feel its a hollow victory because i really wanted this film to work.
its all crap.

Well it looks like this is going to be some cheap, crummy dvd release but obviously all we can do now is wait and see.

We don't know anything of the kind. Hines spent $12,000 researching the copyright, you have not spent one cent. I'm fairly certain he knows better than you do. ;D Getting back to the topic of this thread: Yeah, I'm still looking forward to this film too! Unlike the highly visible naysayers still upchucking their bile, poison and misinformation all over this board, I'm still hoping to see a good period version of Wells' masterpiece!

Lensy your a strange one. You also make me chuckle, as you make unresearched out bursts. Hines is quoted as saying Paramount told him they would sue Pendragon if they released WOTW in zones were it was still under copyright law. Im sure others here will remember the article in question. Also he has said alot of things hasnt he? including a mega $43 million dollar budget and a march 3oth release date, so I wouldnt put oo much faith in grand $12k claims, but even so all your saying is that he know about the copyright situation, im sure he does, he will know if he sells his tripe in countrys were Paramount own the rights they will sue him into oblivion. Put that in your little desperate fan boy pipe and smoke it.

Lensman what is your problem. I'm sorry but i dont appreciate things i say being told by punks like you that its bile, poison. On the return swing i think people like you who are so blinded to the want, the almost fanatical need for a true vertion of War of the Worlds that they will accept any amount of crap as long it has the elements you believe that is nessesary to qualify as a 'true' WOTW movie. Your like the shopkeeper in the 'Deads parrot' sketch. PP version: dead parrot, its is no more its gone to meet its maker, bereft of life it rests in piece, if you and others like you dont harp on about it it would be pushing up the daisies. PP WOTW is an ex-parrot.

Remember the Monty Python skit where Giant Blancmanges from space invade the World and Change Englishmen into Scotsmen? Very appropriate for this site.

I nailed my flag to TH's mast a long time ago and will stick by him. I'm excited about the Geoff Wayne one too coz it's "Proper" WOW not some nutsty modern take on the story, surely we had enough of that with Pal's version and independence day and Mars Attacks christ how many more modern things do you want? BORING!!!! I want victoriana and if I don't read the book every filpping second day to get it then I'll settle for TH and good old Geoff. Really it isn't that improtant to me what the finished picture looks like, even though it looks like it's being further "tweaked". What is important is that it's a period piece and if you lot are satisfied give me a few thousand pounds and I'll make it for you. Yer...Amber's WOW has a nice ring to it. Now we'll have the narrator as a rabbit....sorry I'll start again...Celia Imrie MUST be in it that is a dead cert coz I'm sure you boys will agree she is top posh totty...what you still don't like it? There is no pleasing some....so WHAT do you want?
