How much does it cost to have a site hosted? I didnt think it was expensive. It's not. And unless something is REALLY strange up there (they're here on the left coast of the US, like me), I'm having a hard time imagining a technical problem that would take down PP's site for this long and not the Homestead 'error' page. Besides, go to the 'Featured Sites' segment of Homestead's home page and all of THEM are still working. This smells a lot of somebody not having paid the bill. If memory serves, the actual trailer was hosted on another service, so unless PP had only purchased a VERY small bandwidth for their actual website, I don't think watching the trailer would push them over the edge. I suppose it's possible that the buzz on the movie is spreading and they've blown out the bandwidth limit on the main site, too. That would mean Homestead has tried to contact them about purchasing an increased bandwidth package and gotten no response. The current outage may just be a gentle reminder to 'buy up or get off.' I'm going to leave the obvious 'doom and gloom' scenario untouched.

I've deleted my post Gnorn, I dont question you but my works computer isnt downloading the full page content.
This is getting mighty strange, websites dont just go down for no reason and homestead arnt having problems with other sites, when Rob updates this site it doesnt go down for days.
Deeper down the rabbit hole we go......

Motile, I didn't put it up to slam you, just to point the members to the pages. Extra service at no extra cost. :-)
But I agree it is all very strange. Anywho, it is still morning in Seattle, so there's still a whole afternoon to fix things. Hopefully.

If it did crash because of suddenly getting more hits then the bandwidth has to be close to the silver option which is $4.95, bargain basement cheopo option, why would anyone putting up a movie website choose that, he cant be that strapped for cash, can he?

At this point, all we can do is wait. Barring factual word from someone about the situation, we won't 'know' what's happening until one of the following occur:
1) Pendragon site comes back up. - Bills are paid and everything's rosy.
2) Pendragon site stays down more than a day or so, but HOWSTUFFWORKS site stays up. - Limbo, but not looking good.
3) Both sites go down and stay down. - PP can't pay the bills.
Frankly, my vote is for scenario #1. Like as not, given the date of the month, some person or person involved with PP just forgot to send in the check to Homestead this month, or the bandwidth limit on the hosting package purchased has been exceeded and Homestead didn't yet get the proper amount required to pay for the higher-bandwidth package.

At this stage in the game with a month to go before crunch time I would have thought it would have been a priority for them to keep something up on the website, after all you dont completely remove a site to update it. If it is down to paying the bill thats a shoddy lame excuse at this stage.

OH GAWD. "Stay frosty!" I just had flashbacks to those god awful Alien movie comic books that came with the toys...and the equally crappy saturday morning cartoon show. "Stay frosty Marines! We've got a new weapon! -The anti-alien battlemech suit!...now avaliable at your nearest toystore."
But back on topic...I'm going insane not knowing what's going on.

I know why the site went down ... They were trying to colour in the Thunderchild and somebody wobbled the 16k rampack on the ZX81 ...whoops, mind you I admit the Tripods are coming on well on their backup Sinclair 48k spectrum (rubber keys version jeez showing my age now
