I think someone should invest 42million to tinckelly. If that brilliant cover design is anything to go by, we could end up seeing the production of a lifetime!!

Thanks.
$4.2 million would be quite enough thanks!!!
My point wasn't to produce a good DVD cover, but just to show what a joke and an insult that Pendragon one is.
Media companies spend so much money and time on covers to books, CDs, DVDs etc. because huge numbers of people pick their product off the shelf BECAUSE of the cover.
Ask yourself, does the Pendragon one say, "This is a really good film that the film makers are proud of?" Of course not.
Even conmen usually produce flashy brochures. What's going on here?

Yep it's a point very well made dude. It does feel like Pendragon pouring salt into an already gaping wound.

OK Lensman. Here's what I did with a time limit of 2 hours and bits and pieces nicked off the web. You'll note that I don't have a $42 million dollar film to sample images of tripods from, hence the dodgy look. If I had the time Pendragon do, it would look better. So, 2 hours versus something produced by a company with a supposedly multi-million dollar movie to release and promote. The whole point is that there SHOULD be an enormous professional difference. There is just no comparison. If I saw your design on the shelf I would buy it with pleasure and eager anticipation. The other I would ask the library to order it..... maybe. Zoe

Nice work Tinckelly- I like that image. Now- hows about me throwing this into this mix- Perhaps someone is leading Amazon down the garden path with the promise of availability or someone other than Pendragon just came up with a quick image to make the release reasonably solid - a temporary design (just to have it on the website). After all, that's pretty much all we've been fed with promo wise from PP already. Or, Pendragon have once again arsed their promotion up.

Donal, I know what you mean and I thought of that. But there's still no excuse for the cover. It only takes a day to throw together something decent.
It just seems to me an indication of the mind-set of the people involved in this production. If they can't be bothered to produce a decent web-site or DVD cover for your product, what hope is there that said product will be any good?
You have to treat your relationship with your potential customers as one that you can be screwed up if you do something wrong, UNLESS of course, you are of the opinion that they are 'cattle' who will HAVE to buy your product simply because it has WOTW on the cover.
That may be what is at work here.

You're absolutely right Tinckelly- the same goes for Pendragon's website and that I think is what is at work here- a resignation to mediocrity, surrounded by much big-talk (or, more recently, silence!).
Arrogance of subject matter is also well observed and how often this arrogance can be misplaced.
Assuming the film is finished (!), I'm sure that investors would ensure that it is released soon so to catch SOME dollars back from the Spielberg release. It would be daft not to. Though, it would be daft to plug the film with an odd trailer containing desperately unfinished effects shots.

Caddilac1949 quoted from Seattle thread:
I live near Seattle and have known Tim Hines for years. Simply put he is a very ambitious but very untalented hack. He never worked as a commercial/industrial filmmaker. He is not that good. He is very talented at putting things together on a shoestring however everything he has done is unwatchable, pretentious tripe that has gone nowhere. Pendragon's world headquarters are his apartment where he lives with Susan Goforth his girlfriend/Pendragon Producer. Hines is 99% smoke and mirrors. He has been telling tall tales for years about all the big Hollywood talent and money he is going to get for his Films and it is always bogus. All this War of the Worlds hype is a new level of self-delusion even for Hines. No one invested $12 million dollars or what ever he is claiming for this latest shot on video piece of garbage. The only money he ever gets is from relatives, a few local investors who he might con out of a few thousand dollars with tall tales about how is letting them in on the ground floor and soon to be former friends. The only money he has ever recouped from any of his projects is when he rents a theater for one evening so he can charge his actors to see themselves & perhaps a handfull of sales off his website. This has got to be Hine's biggest attempted con job yet.
Rusti: There will be no release, the above person has put it in a nutshell. The dream is over goodnight.

I think everyone should just move on, if there is any new news you'll hear about it here.
This board is turning into a punch bag for pendragon, I think everyones annoyed that the film never appeared but as D.F and Rusti have said, It's probably all over.
3 other films to concentrate on now.

I reckon one listen of that frog ring tone, a sighting of a hoodie or some nutjob in burberry - and the Martians will bog off back to Mars in disgust!

Yep I think Amazon's getting a little ahead of itself here. First of all the "tripods" I seriously doubt are the real deal. This was supposed to be the "book" version and H.G did not describe the tripods as "looking like bullet headed things with a leg sticking out from what looked like the front of the veiwport and a satellite dish stuck on top almost like an after thought, with stings of metal sausages drooping down, again from who knows where." And I wonder where Mr Hines is right now? Why has there been no press release for nearly 2 months now, or a site update? This guy is an absolute joke.

The sad fact is myself and a few others saw this coming a mile off. It got so bad that several 'doomsayers' like myself were right about this man yet did anyone listen, nooooo. Now we have been proven right. its turned into a hollow victory. Caddilac1949 responce further up is the wrong conclustion to this sorry saga.
It turns out that the whole PP thing was a con job by someone who thinks hes Ridly Scott. Yet the irony is hes a brilliant artist and designer and has brains. Why dont he work for a TV / Film company to get money and experience instead of having delutions of grandeaur.
I hope this is a lesson for him.

Ah Rusti... Yes, you were right it seems. But nobody new for sure back then this was going to happen and, as they say, hindsight (no pun intended) is always 20/20. It's easy for people to say things like Cadillac's comments when the fat lady has already left the building. We could all see what a shoddy job was being done, but there were no real indications that it was going to go tits up in such a spectacular fashion. It's all very sad. But, yes.. you were right. Well done.

It seems that some posters, in the past, have been knocked by Pendragon supporters. Some of those posters don't bother posting anymore because they simply believed, from the evidence presented, that they were telling the truth. One particular post suggested that supporters who do feel betrayed or let down ( words to that effect ) should seek counselling. What an insult!
Why I support Pendragon is a locked thread on this board. There are certain 'supporters' who have egg all over their face, so to speak.
Do let us all know what 'humble pie' tastes like.
Sometimes the truth stares us in the face but even then certain individuals refuse to accept it despite the alarm bells ringing. I suggest those individuals seek counselling or similar.

[glow=purple,2,300]I have heard that humble pie tastes suspiciously like a bowl of sprouts, with a side order of omlette scraped from the facial area.
That said, I don't think anyone needs to binge out on these tasty morsels (Morsel Common!! ;D) . Those who always said it would be a failure can revel in the glow of 'I told you so' superiority. Those who supported the effort can bask in the shade of the DVD. The neutral bods can take it, leave it, and make their own minds up after viewing the finished product.
Let it drop now. The DVD is available to order. Either buy it, or don't.
I don't think anything more can be added to this thread.[/glow]

Er.. Welcome to the board Parson. I would like to say though that no one here has egg on their face. This was not a war (despites certain people on both sides trying to make it so with their attitudes) and any victory by the 'unbelievers' must, as Rusti suggested, indeed be a hollow one. In fact most of the 'AHB' were crowing at the shoddy job being done at the time, not the fact that this movie would never appear (which it still can, btw). Sure, some people were blinded by the fact that this film was an answer to their prayers, what all WotW fans want but that ain't such a bad thing. From what we were told it appeared to be so. You can't blame people for believing what they are told. The 'Why I support Pendragon' thread is locked because it was an old thread with no new posts on it. At the top of the PP board is a thread explaining this. Anyway, to my mind, the only people who need therapy are those who would use this as an excuse to put down others from behind the safety of an internet connection.
