Hmm... I've just noticed that the perspective of the left front leg is a little off - I'll have to fix that. Lensman - When I have an idea for a picture, I tend to hand-sketch it first and then, when I feel it looks good on paper (this part can take a while...), will scan it into the computer at a resolution of about 300 - 500 DPI (enough to conserve all the detail of the sketch). I will then use it as a base layer in a good graphics program, such as Paintshop, Photoshop or Fireworks MX and outline it with a vector line-drawing tool on a separate layer. After several hours of this 'tracing' method, I can remove the original sketch from the background, leaving me with just a black outline which I can easily manipulate as necessary. This is how I have drawn most of the art pieces posted here. Another method I am currently learning to use to outline pictures is using the 'airbrush'-type tools in programs like Paintshop pro to draw an outline - creating an effect very similar to a sketch that has been traced with a paintbrush or art pen on the screen (with variable line widths). However, I am still working on my technique for this particular way of outlining so have not yet posted any pictures done using this method. To be honest, I prefer vector line outlining my work to airbrushing it. That's why pretty much all the work I have posted here is vector outlined - quite simply because I like that method more. ;D Hope this answers your question.

Here's another pic - this one's an ink pen sketch: This machine's leg layout is slightly different to my other pics - it has 2 legs on the left and one on the right instead of one on each side and one at the back. As always, comments/suggestions/etc. are welcome...

Thanks, CT and Chantale. Here's another HM. If it looks a bit odd or crooked that's because I started this one off by drawing the base sketch with my non-dominant hand then finishing it off with my dominant one. Enjoy.

Looks good to me, and an interesting use of ambidexterity! :-)

Sorry I haven't posted any work for a while... I've been busy with another art project. But I'll have to start posting more of my work here now. This is some random picture I did the other day - it was made as a desktop background for my computer, and this is a smaller version of it. It's full of annoying flaws (the baby Martian's eyes and the leaf in the top hand corner especially bug me... they just don't look right... ), but it's all I've got to share at the moment. Don't ask me why the young Martian is wearing a scarf... or why the baby Martian next to it has mittens on... I'm really not sure - but it seemed to make sense to me at the time. The other one is chasing the falling leaves... Yes, I know it's not really WotW art... well, kind of... but people keep asking me to draw these guys so... erm... yeah. I'll try to post some real WotW artwork up here soon, honest... maybe something not so cutesy...

Excellent. When I first saw it I thought the first Martian had a scarf on cause it was catching a cold.

When I first saw it I thought the first Martian had a scarf on cause it was catching a cold. Maybe he is... and if not he'll definately want to avoid catching one. Anyway, Thanks for the nice comments, Nerfy and CT. Anyway... more random stuff I quickly sketched when I was bored today: Some strange-looking Tripod thing: And a Martian design thing: They're only sketches, so you'll have to forgive the... well... sketchy-ness of them.

Yeah, it's great, but those eyes remind me to a pair of sunglasses from the 50's. I wish i could draw like that.

Hehe... a Martian in sunglasses from the 50's? Maybe he thinks he's undercover: *puts on sunglasses*"This clever disguise will make me practically invisible to the stupid humans!" Yep... The 'superman' effect - put on a pair of glasses, and no one knows it's you. ;D
