Bump! Here you go with a couple of updates. This is the upper saucer section of the body prior to being primed in black. I've cut the top dome back to turn it into a hood and lined the rather jagged edge with plastic flex. The white panels are go faster strips for radio controlled cars and there's a solitary sticky label there too. I've broken up the surface a tad with a few kit bits as i don't want to detract too much from it being a "shield".

And here's the nearly finished Heat Ray. Just needs a bit of dirtying down with washes and highlights:

Wotcha. Yeah, sorry about the delay in any updates but i've a double-whammy of reaching a brick wall re what to do for the joints for the Heat Ray arm (as Well's reckons they didn't use a fixed pivot) and the extensions finished to the house so all my spare time is now taken up wit the thrill of painting ceilings, walls and treating knot-holes. Also why there's no progress on my Pal version diorama. Promise as soon as there's progress it'll be on here.

Just attatch the heat ray on a fixed part but have the tenticals operating it.
That would look pretty cool.
You could just scrap the heat ray box and have the tenticles holding the black smoke launcher! ;D

BUMP! Sorry for the delay in an update, but this extension means i've got 7 new rooms to decorate - and i wanted them done by Christmas. Anyway, assuming i can remember how to post pics, here's the latest i've got. The cowl and lower body primed in black then a coat of Games Workshop Gunmetal just to see how it pulls togther. The final finish will be chrome/aluminium:

Lower body. The still shiny area is where a plate holding the tentacles will go. I'm still stuck on the legs. They continue down from these stubby ones here and the trouble is what to use for the "knees". Will cross that bridge when i come to it.

Well, went to Halfords to get the aluminium paint - and there's nothing marked that. Loads of different company's silvers (too shiny), some metallic greys (might do) and others similar to what i'm after. Before buying i thought i'd ask - anyone used a Halfords paint for an aluminium effect and if so, what was the title?
