I can't say the film is crap as I haven't seen it yet but I don't like the sound of it and yes why couldn't they have made the film like the book [ as some of us have so often said ].

Why cant people just enjoy this film for what it was instead of tearing it a part because it wasn't exactly what they wanted it to be.

Who's going to be terrified by 19th Century England being blown apart? Certainly not me! I'm disappointed that they didn't try something new with the ending.

Oh come on. There was no need to start a completely new thread just to say the film is crap and little else. Nothing has been said here that we haven't heard a million times before. If you have an opinion on it why not post a review in the reviews thread instead.. and say WHY you thought the film was crap. We don't care if people don't like the film but for chrissakes show a little imagination. I see any more threads like this and I'm going to start closing them.

Thats why Rich the closing credits, trailors and posters say "Based On The Novel By H.G.Wells" and not "Taken Directly From The Novel By H.G.Wells".

As a devot WOTW fan it pains me to say this but the book had its flaws too, not the least gramatical, starting a sentence with "And," tut tut lol. Everything has problems with it, if you focus on them too much you end up missing the bigger picture, in this case a kick-arse film and one hell of a novel.

Someone who likes to come to some fan-community, bitch about the thing the fans love, and gets a kick out of all the angry reactions. Just ignore trolls and they troll... stroll along.

I haven't been on forums for some years, because of those trolls, and because of a lot of childish behaviour. I'm very glad I found this community, which is very civil and mature with each other... the occasional collision aside. You made a good choise with this forum :-)

The worst part of the movie was the ending, with a certain male character walking out of a door, avoiding spoiling it, hope you know what I mean. I thought it would have been better if it had been left with what had happened eariler on with this person.
I liked the reference to the book such as the rotating of the road RE cylinder. It was an interesting take on the concept and I like the movie, felt let down with the independence day aliens.
Was I the only person to notice who played Tom cruise's wife's parents. None other than gene barry and ann robinson, from the george pal movie.

Well it's funny when people make comparisons with Independence Day about the implausibility of using a Mac to upload a virus when the virus concept came from the book! I mean advanced aliens more 'intelligent' than us didn't realise that foreign Bacteria could kill them without being immunised, yet us 'lesser' Humans knew that! Other than that gripe it is a very good story

Wells pointed out that the Martians litterally wiped out desese on their planet for so long they became ignorant of it
The same should therefore apply here
