Richard Burtons voice is (said) to be used for the film, interesting to see if they create a CGI RB and other album stars are to be approached (so I understand) but this is not for certain as of yet - early days.

I asked a question in the 'Envious Eyes' thread about what the characters would look like... Be interesting to see if we find anything out in that. By the way, IM.. is there any particular reason why most of your choices are Welsh?

By the way, IM.. is there any particular reason why most of your choices are Welsh? Perhaps because they have good speaking voices? Also to continue with the tradition of having another Welshman as narrator

We all know there is a possibility that the narrator and artillary man etc from the album and unused recordings can be used, but was there any speach said by Ogilvy that was cut from the final album?
And thinking of other characters we may see the Queen/King (depends on when this film is set etc) and other famous people of then!
---
Also there were some references in the new Paramount film, there may be those types of things in Jeff's. Like say a newspaper headline of "Man turns Invisible" or "Time Travel Machine Found!". ;D

Being that its set in 1899, it would be Queen Victoria who was still on the thrown then. Not sure about your last bit, unless your smacked of your t*ts again Krys

Richard Burton IS THE only choice in my view..but ahem..he's dead..stupid person! so why can't they find the best impersonator in the world to take off Burton's voice.
However if this failed then what about Jeremy Irons? he's got a pretty decent voice and he can act. The Artilleryman must be David Essex. Can't really think of any more.

They dont need to, Jeff recorded a huge amount of narration with Richard Burton for the album that was 'never' used in the final cut. That 'missing' narration can be edited and used for a much fuller story IF they need to, but as already stated, there would be no need for huge amounts of narration because Richard Burtons narration was for the album, a non visual experience but this will change dramatically for the film were you will see the visuals instead of hearing about them from Richard Burton.

Patrick Stuart for the Curate. Ian McDiarmid could be a good Narrator. Robbie Williams for the Artillery Man. ;D Christopher Lee for Ogilvy!

Anthony Hopkins wouldnt make a bad Narrator.
I dont think, right now, that many people could beat David Essex for The Artilleryman.
Hes just so perfect for the role.
And I figure they will have to make a new cast, the entire unedited script within the Collectors Edition booklet, and the outtakes are no where near enough to base an entire move, with spoken dialogue around. Besides, most of it is Narration that really wouldnt work, wether it be cut and pasted or not, as conversation.

All good choices for narrators, but thery're not going to be choosen because Richard Burton is the narrator, no one else.
What you have to realise is that TWOTW is told in 1905, taken from an account of a war that occured in 1899 - flashbacks. The narration is the voice over so no need for a CGI narrator to be standing infront of a camera talking like a proper actor would. You would see him going through his paces with his voice telling us what is going on at certain intervals.
It is VERY certain that JWM/ORP are going to use the recordings of Richard Burton taken from 1977.

I'm really glad that they're using Burtons voice and I don't think it would be the same with anyone else. I don't think it would be a good idea to use the others like David Essex though.
I don't think people would take this film seriously if they did.
Essex and Lynnot worked fine on the LP but all you'd have if they used Essex for instance is people saying things like "this film stars well known 70s pop icons" etc. I think Jeff should get well known or reasonably well known classical contemporary actors who are known for their acting ability.
I think it would be best if they kept the musical and film as two quite separate entities.

IF the role of 'narrator' was still up for grabs, i think Struan Rodgers would make an excellent choice. He's done various narration work on tv, he starred as the judge in Young Adam and he voiced the game Spellcross among many other things.
