Ha ha, I saw 5 minutes more of that footage down at Jeff's. Nice to see that they have released this. Now, just imagine (as the FM looks on your screen) what the Flying Machine, Thunder Child and Cylinder looks like - I saw those.

Bad news, Jeff just called me. Seems the cleaner staff accidentaly turned the Etch-A-Sketch-3D monitors upside down erasing all the work they'd done so far... ;D

Well, as mentioned above I think this JW animation is fantastic, and I am deeply looking forward to the film. But if we were to see it as as part of a live action movie wouldn't we be a bit worried? It works as we know JW's film will obviously be an animated feature therefore 'separated' from the real world. Splice exactly the same animation into Pendragon's live action effort and it would be ridiculed as unrealistic (as it is possible that their actual animation will be, judgement reserved until we have more to go on). From what limited evidence I've seen, Pendragon's animation would look fine in such an animated feature but probably poor in a live action film.
I think people are a lot more forgiving of effects in an animated film. At the end of the day, isn't it all a matter of context?

I think it looks bloody fantastic! My only problem with it is that it seems a little stiff in movement. Wells always seems to go out of his way to point out that the tripods were very fluid in motion. Still it is a work in progress and it is mighty impressive at that. I love the way it turns. In fairness to Mr Hines, CGI is probably not his team's forte and JW's team have had a lot more experience in that department. Plus their tripods are quite different from each other (bar the three legs ;D ). For one thing the motion is very different. The PP tripod at times has only one foot planted on the ground, while the JW tripod usually has two. Still it's early days, so who knows. I don't know which one I prefer but in terms of "quality" the JW tripod kicks it's @rse.
