Thanks! :-) I'm going to have to get the soldering gun out for the arms and claws I think.

Wow! that looks easy, as in "The guy's so good he makes it look easy!"
What kind (brand) of filler do you use, and is your sanding done by hand or with an orbital sander, or what?

Get ready for it.................it's just good old polyfiller!!! The stuff is so easy to work with if you're prepared to spend many hours sanding by hand (thus answering your second question). I shape with 80 grade emery cloth and finish with 600 grade wet 'n dry.

Preparation for basket platformMeasured out and cut using an electricians hole cutting tool. I then cut out a similar sized circle of quarter inch balsa to form the basic floor of the basket. Hood section paintingPrepared with grey auto primer and finished with, yep, you've guessed it. Ford Nimbus grey metallic! Forming and painting of the "eyes"..Sanded balsa again, sprayed with silver enamel and finished with a coat of green transparent glass paint. ..and a quick alignment test; thank goodness, it fits!

Basket base fillingI've applied some filler to the basket base area, to be shaped later. Basket constructionThis started as two rings I made from some copper earthing wire. After much burning of fingers, I eventually finished soldering the two rings together via cut lengths of the same type of copper wire. The basket was then finished with careful application of a suitable metal mesh.

Are you going to electrify the basket, to stop the lil buggers from escaping?
