What is Eagle? I have always woundered what Poyks' avatar was about. Poyk's avatar portrays an "Eagle" moon shuttle from the TV series "Space: 1999". The date under that IIRC refers to the date at the start of the show when a nuclear accident blasted the moon out of Earth orbit. The rest of the words there... I dunno. Perhaps something to do with the mysterious Custard Conspiracy that Poyks refuses to discuss. ;D "Space: 1999" was Gerry ("Thunderbirds") Anderson's second live-action series, following "UFO" (which I love and have every episode on DVD). "Space: 1999" featured infamously wooden, emotionless acting, and a moon which inexplicably hopped around the galaxy to a new place every week. No, really! The show was quite popular among young viewers at the time, but among adult science fiction fans (like myself) was widely considered the worst SF TV series ever-- until "War of the Worlds" came along!

Thanks Lensman, I couldn't have put it better myself (although it wasn't all that bad!). Ahh, it reminds me of my first TV crush......Catherine Schell. No, I still won't discuss the Custard Conspiracy! ;D

Am I right in thinking that Space: 1999 is being repeated on ITV4 or 3 or something?

I loved the theme tune to space 1999 - that driving bass line was thumpin'! ;D

Heheh, don't let my appearance here drag things off-topic! More Eagles in sig. The world's only dedicated Eagle site in fact. I'm a big fan of sci-fi hardware in general - and the martian fighting machine (especially JW's cover art version) just 'does it' for me!

The RustiSwordz?... How ya doin' old friend? ;D doing OK mate, wotcha doing here? Im same old me, they wont let me back onto Egosoft in a million years. Still the guys on these forums are a lot friendlier and more relaxed. They also love art n stuff so get flashing yer talent mate. I used to have an old die cast Eagle the one with the nuclear waste containers on the rotating gimbal, i had a UFO SHADO tank and an interceptor.

I used to have a SHADO Intercepter and a Mobile (both from UFO) by Dinky Toys, but they were both painted the wrong color! Fortunately these days you can buy more accurate models.
Oh, I should clarify my earlier comment: "Space: 1999" was widely considered the worst of the era by adult *American* SF fans. There were a lot of Brit SF shows that never made it across the pond. Some, like "Sapphire & Steel" were famed for their quality. Others may have been far worse, so I can't compare "Space: 1999" to other Brit shows of the era.
