My name is Johan Groenewold, I’m 24 years old and I live in Oude Pekela, a little town in the North-eastern part of The Netherlands. I live together with my girlie Corina. Corina and I are together for almost two years now. We’ve got one dog at the moment called Laika, another one will arrive Saturday. Both are Rottweilers. I’m planning to start my own pub. Besides The War of the Worlds I’ve got many hobbies: drinking beer, collecting fossils, playing paintball, and of course I sing in the Dutch punkband DestrOi! The punk band DestrOi! was founded in 2003. The band combines Oi! and Anarcho-punk into a style we call Chaos Streetpunk. We get our inspiration from bands like The 4-Skins, The Exploited, One Way System and Oxymoron. Our mission in short: to expand and revive the "reality-punk" scène in the Northern part of The Netherlands. More info: www.destroi.tkAbout The War of the Worlds: The first time I came in contact with TWOTW was when I was about 6 years old. My uncle had a single of The Eve of The War from the Jeff Wayne musical version and I remember that I was staring vividly at that weird robot thing attacking a war-ship. And I loved the song. In the years after that I sometimes heard The Eve of the War on the radio and I bought a synthesizer CD with the track. A friend of mine then showed me a CD that he had found in the Library with The Eve of the War on it. It was of course the Jeff Wayne’s musical version and the cover looked all to familiar to me. I immediately fell in love with the album, often playing it a couple of times a day. In 1993 I started to write my own version of The War of the Worlds, set in my hometown, based on the Jeff Wayne version. I read the original novel about one year after that and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the Fighting Machines in it, because they are totally different than the ones in the Jeff Wayne version to which I had come accustomed to. But after a very short while, I closed the novel and the Fighting Machines in my heart, never to be released from it again. First TWOTW was only a good SF book to me. Later, when I was about 16 years old, I became interested in politics and began to see the underlying political/social message in The War of the Worlds. I’m proud to say I was one of the very first members of this excellent forum! Pictures This is me: The Band DestrOi! Hello my name is Richard, i'm 27 and i'm from Staffordshire, England.
I first became interested when I was 9 and the 1953 film was on at 1 O'clock in the morning and I begged my Dad to let me stay up to watch it, it was the first time I heard of TWOTW and I didnt know what it was about.
Then when I was 15 a friend of my mum let me borrow Jeff Waynes musical, thats when I really became interested.
The muscial is my favourte of all the incarnations.
I have never read the book I've never got my hands on a copy but I have listened to it!, I have it on tape read by Tim Piggott-Smith.
I also like other sci-fi like Star Trek and Doctor Who.
I dont have a picture to post, anyway I dont want to be blamed for breaking peoples monitors. ;D

hmm I havent posted on here for a while but hey I always have time to talk about myself. The first wotw thing I had was the musical.. scared me till I was about 12 (17 now).. during that time I read the book and watched the film a few times. But I am mostly obsessed with the musical. other things I like? well league of gentlemen and red dwarf fave tv shows. books: harry potter, stephen king are my two faves and anything on Jack The Ripper - im not that weird music - at the moment its black eyes peas (shame i know) robbie williams and motown.. but I like practically anything. Oh I go to college and study law, psychology and sociology.. was doing biology but i actually hated it. I have the best pets in the world a scorpion (spike), tarantula (phoebe) and a hamster (anakin). If anyone actually wants to see me, theres loads of pictures on www.myspace.com/acid__burn

My name is Robert Polson, err I mean Justin Leigh. I'm 29, have three lovely kids and last week got married to my beautiful wife Tami. I'm into tattoos and have designed several for different people. I love music, particularly of the punk/hardcore persuasion, with the occasional dose of indie alternative and goth. I wear a lot of black and have played bass in a couple of pub bands. My other interests are writing, studying martial arts, indoor beach volleyball (none of this real light business), horror movies and having a few drinks with friends... oh, and war of the worlds ;D Here are a couple of pics: Tami and I Proof I actually have non-red eyes

(Image & Text Courtesy Of CRIMEWATCH UK) "Police are currently looking for this man who was seen on the evening of November 3rd acting very strange outside the home of Steven Spielberg - director, producer. This CCTV image was captured during late afternoon as Mr Spielberg strolled with his dog while observing a man who was on the grounds to his home in Hertfordshire. He was standing amounst bushes with his arms folded, starring blankly while wearing a pink frilly 1980's ra ra skirt and Doctor Martin boots, to then later urinate through Mr Spielbergs letterbox and then asking how far it had gone before running off into neigbouring fields - A police spokemans for Hertfordshire police have asked for the public not to approach this man as he could frighten them by standing with his arms folded while starring"

Hello.
My real name is Jemima, I am 18 years old and I am from the Isle of Man. It is my first year of university, I am studying at the University Of California: Santa Cruz, and I am hoping to do a degree in Astrophysics. ;D
At home I have two chinchillas called Pippin and Merry, and they are the coolest, cutest, most hyperactive pets in the world.
I first became interested in the War of the Worlds when I was about 6, and my parents had baught a cassette tape of sci-fi music that they played in the car. It contained 'The Eve of the War', and I was constantly playing the track over and over - and eventually they got the CD. I have been hooked ever since, and enjoy everything to do with WotW - but the musical will always be one of my favourates.
My hobbies include karate (I am a second level brown belt now), hiking, computer graphics and sketching. Oh... and I make martians look cute! ;D
