Check out the newest print of WOTW... Why are they using the Bob Lazar Area s4 UFO for cover art?! Agh! The pain...so...horribly...wrong. It's a mockery. Whoever designed this kid's version needs to...well...be sacked. "Hey kids! Tom Cruise was in a book!" Kids: "Awesome! Wait a minute, I saw the movie and the book lied to me showing me they were spaceships! I hate books!"

What the heck???
Obvious the cover artist NEVER read the book, let alone seen the '53 movie. I think he's mistaken Tim Burton's movie.

There are plenty of FAN artists out there (Me included). Why don't they get one of those to do the cover?
This one is CRAP !

'NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE STARRING TOM CRUISE'
Should that read 'SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE' as having it like the book cover suggests, the film is now complete and ready to be screened.

I thought at first this was a joke from someone with too much time on their hands and a copy of Adobe Photoshop, but no I found at least one place on the net selling it with this cover.
I think whoever made this cover got their wires crossed and thought they said do a cover to "This Island Earth"!!
War of the Worlds is very distinctive because of it's Tripods. Now they have made it look like just another Flying Saucer book. It's especially upsetting as it's aimed at our most impressionable audience, kids.

So we should just put any old cover on it? They are going to be reading and trying to correlate the cover picture with the story. I know I used to as a kid. Kids don't tend to discriminate like Adults and naturally assume any artwork will be related to the story. Anyway if it doesn't matter then why not put a blank cover rather than a false one?

i dunno, i know it didn't matter to me. i thought the cover was cool anyway. i wasn't stupid, so when the book described victorian tripods and the cover showed flying saucers laying waste to a modern city with lasers, i knew that the two didn't match, and chalked it up as one of those great mysteries of life that really doesn't matter in the end.

Who are the publishers of this new copy? and where is it being distributed?
I think if we all send them emails complaining about it, it will pi$$ them off. I am sure they won't change it now it has being distributed, but I think they diserve to know that us die hard fans think that cover is fooking discracful!!

If Speilberg is still shooting the film, maybe we can take copies of the book down the the film sets and 'chuck' them into the flames of burning buildings - just as a mark of respect

If things get hot under your feet, you could always tell Spielberg and Cruise sent you on a mission, because they didn't want to be associated with crap like this (they are making thier own! j/k)
