Yes and i think it could be the perfect model for a martian scout tripod for the BF mod.

What are the system specs?
Will it be converted to other game consoles? Perhaps X-Box could do it like Doom3 but it may apear on PlayStation3 and Nintendo Revolution...

Krys,
I have Half Life 2. I run mine on at 1024x768, high detail on everything but no AA, AF. I have a Radeon 9600 Pro graphics card and AMD Athlon XP2600+ and 1Gb RAM. It runs fine on that.
The striders are amazing - but incredibly hard to beat. There is a mod that allows you to pilot one and take other players out.
The HL2 game scales, so if you have a better graphics card then it only gets better and earlier graphics cards are still good quality.
It is a fantastic game.
I don't play it that much now - but do play Counterstrike Source - which is superb multiplayer game.

It's coming out on Xbox apparently. Don't know about anything else. As my PC is old and decrepid, I'm hanging out for this version.

How much are X-Box's now? Still at the £200-odd mark?

11th of November is out, not sure if that is England and American, or just one/the other.
And their around £80 now if you shop around, due to the release of the 360 next month.

Got it on my Xbox and I have to say it's bloody great. I've only seen those striders at a distance so far but they gave the impression that I should avoid them!

It is a superb game, and when you finally get to the part where you have to destroy the Striders it is damn unnerving.

Had my first run-in with the striders today, three at the one time. Not only are they hard to kill but they are incredibly tenacious! I was huddling in a sewer pipe under the road while one of them was outside trying to crouch down and gun me down in the pipe. Eventually it got bored and stomped off, then I ran out and let them have it! ;D The way they are realised and animated just makes me wish someone out there would make a first person WOTW game. Actually, my brother just got a job at a new software company that is just starting up. Maybe I can pitch it to him?

Do they have any sort of call like Wells Tripods? if so it would be great to put the Jeff Wayne Ulla as the call.

The only time I get to play it is about 5am when I am up rocking my baby daughter to sleep so I have the volume right down. However I could have sworn they make a strange ulla-esque call when you down one. If I get a chance to play it with the volume cranked I'll know for sure.

I got that just before Christmas- never played the first one as it was never released on the Mac to my knowledge.. Cracking game (but I finished it in 3 days- I must stop playing these things on normal difficulty and spending HOURS AT A TIME on them!). The striders were remarkable - as was 'Dog'- superbly animated. And what about the lip-synch? Such detail. I'm having another play through it to see if I missed anything.
The only downside with the X-Box version is how often the game must load up a map- I'm sure PC owners with a reasonable amount of ram don't suffer this...
It looks like the X-Box 360 isn't over endowed with memory either- won't they ever learn? It can make such a difference. Though I'm sure to get one eventually- when the price drops a little and Halo 3 is released...
