The other problem DD_exclusive etc is caused by XP not liking the display switching between 640x480 to 1024x768 resolution and is fixed by setting certain registry values, notably 'size' and 'support screen size' both to 1024 x 768. This should fix it.

how do i get into the registry and change the sizes? still cant get past the loading screen that dam error keeps appearing.

fixed it! just completed the game as the Martians, never seen their victory sequence before, pretty menacing dam those squids feasting on us.
