But seriously...
I have found "Tripods and Hussars" but have yet to play it. One question... does anyone know where I can get my hands on some tripod miniatures??

What system are you planning to use, Bayne? Or is it some free-for-all type of game?

I might add that I've never done wargaming before, but, if a newbie to it is welcome, then I'd be up for it.

[glow=red,2,300]Pendraken miniatures make some cheap sturdy miniatures (much more durable than the eureka ones). Pics and opinions can be found in the review section on my site. The site that had Tripods and Hussars and Fistful of Tripods is no longer up I have heard of at least one new set of rules under development. I'd love to see a version of Wells own rules Little Wars (which Sill bought me for christmas:)) [/glow]

I'm writing some software called Firestrike that was a wargaming tool for tabletop miniatures that never quite made it to market except in beta. It is being re-written now and ported to Windows, it was written for DOS originally. I'm about 50% complete. I was thinking of creating a version for WOTW tabletop wargames. All I'd need to do is to create saome Martian vehicle data files and then they xcould be pitted against WWII ground troops, tanks &c I could even knock up some army lists for turn of the century armies.
Just to make it clear this is software that works with your tabletop miniatures, is anyone interested in this idea? I'm just gauging reaction to see whether it's worth my while proceeding.
I can point people to the website if they are interested.

It is gratifying when someone is interested! This is the link to the main Firestrike website. www.aqqc35.dsl.pipex.com/index.htmWhat you will see are descriptions of the old DOS game (95% complete in beta) and some new screenshots of the beta Windows version. The data files have been created for all vehicles in use in the Western European front 1944-45 and can be viewed if you download the DOS version from the download page. Don't expect a lot of the old DOS version it is a VERY old program and a bit clunky, but it serves as a demonstration. It would be possible to create data files for the Martians and for the weapon types used by the humans in the 1890s, I'd just need the encouragement. Here is another link on the similar topic, it is the other WOW software I have written which works with the game. www.aqqc35.dsl.pipex.com/WOTW/wotwmainscreen.htmThis link can be a bit slow but persevere with it. Tell me what you think. Dean

Oooooooh.... I LOVE the miniature wargames.... I create a long time ago a version for the war of the worlds with a sistem similar to warhammer 40k, but it´s not finished yet. I think that a miniature wargame will release with Paramount or Jeff Wayne films.

Very cool! A lot of the models have a Space 1898 feel to them :-)
