I bought the PC version about 3 hours after it was released, but I didn't here about the PS1 version until very recently.
Anyway. I managed to score a copy of the Ps1 game off ebay a few weeks ago. The graphics are a little blocky, but then again the PS1 is an old machine now. Despite this I found the game quite disturbing. Suffering, as many on this forum do, from some sort of post-Jeff wayne stress disorder I found it quite disconcerting to finally come face to face with a (admittedly virtual) fighting machine.
Blowing seventeen different types of poo out of the martians is quite theaputic, but I still have near brown trouser incidents when the three legged buggers manage to get behind me without me noticing until I get whacked by the heat ray.
My son (aged 4) seems doomed to follow me into a martian haunted childhood. I played the game in front of him but he wanted me to stop after about 5 minutes. I couldn't blame him, I needed an excuse anyway.
I found the controls hard to deal with. After using a PC almost exclusively for fifteen years I find it hard to control anything that doesn't use a mouse. Aiming the crosshairs with the control pad is irritating at best, and bloody impossible at worst. I still can't get off the first level.
Can anyone give me a run down of the game? How do you cope with the oversensitive controls? Is it worth persisting.

Stewy, can't help you. I only want to say for me it's the complete opposite. I can't use a mouse to play games. Just give me a videogame system and a controller.
I think it all comes down to practice, practice and practice.

I'm with you Stewy. Strickly old school PC for me. I get my kids the latest consoles but those controllers mess me up. I guess it boils down to what your use to. I got to admit that you console guys have it pretty good in that all you need to do is pop in the game and BAM your ready to play. No installing or issues. I kind of like to tweak issues, install patches and make it work (even when its fighting me ) More iimportantly.....I help make mods which I find enjoyable plus is like breathing new life into a old favorite game. Btw, should anyone know of the WotW PC game for sale...please let me know. I keep my old PC around just so I can play the classics.

It's just a case of practicing. I'm a seasoned console gamer and I found the WotW game controls a little clunky. You'll get used to them in time. Best bet for beating each level is to keep trying, it's as simple as that. Pay attention as you do and you will eventually find places where you can bombard Martian Buildings without getting hit so much and things of that nature. I haven't finished it yet myself but I tend to play it in spurts. Still stuck on level 8 (it's a complete bitch) but I got pretty close to beating that last time I played.

how about ripping an ISO and sending to me via aim? I'm a firm believer in making backups of all my software and be damn copyright protection laws. Piracy is another thing all together. Forgive me but I thinking such matters should be discussed in PMs as not to jeopardise this forum. Of course, if you were just joking then.........my bad

[glow=red,2,300]Somewhere Kryss666 posted an invincibility cheat for the game, that might help you master the controls. [/glow]

Ever since I heard about the PS1 game, I've wanted it. Unfortunetly I live in America and it was never released here! I e-mailed the company who made it a long time ago, and they said it was being produced and couldn't be shipped to America... Is there anyway I could get a copy? I'd buy it if I could...the only problem...not sure if the American PS consols are programmed to run European games and visa versa...anyone know the compatibility issues?

Does anyone want to sell me the ps1 game? $50 US dollars per chance? C'mon....someone's just letting it sit around not being played.
I can't find the darn thing anywhere...not on ebay us or uk. It sure is frustrating.

you can play it on an emulator. download epsxe, an playstation emulator for windows pc from www.zophar.netits kind of complicated at first, because there are lots of plugins for it that you might need. i recommend petes plugins, which you can also get at zophar. once you've got your plugins configured, its a breeze to play psx games on your pc. you'll need the bios files for the playstion, which you can download here www.bioshouse.fr.st/have fun
