then what i realised was the man did really accomplish wot i had invisioned, whilst reading the novel, well to a certain extent at any rate. The movie does have its credit, not as what we wanted but HEY did Spielberg?? Turn down the the lights remember the era and let Herb take you for a ride, he mighten aggree but at least hes lasted the distance.........

And there was me thinking he meant Herbie. I remember that era (from TV). He took loads of people for a ride, some didn't agree (until they copped off with the daughter of Herbies owner), and he's lasted the distance - all the way from Love Bug, to Monte Carlo, to Fully Loaded!
And all the time he meant certain types of herbs... Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme...

I had to read the posting twice to make sure I could understand it and I'm still not sure I have the words in the right order! Anyway if I am reading it right, shouldn't it be 'and let George take you for a ride'? What's with using his middle name? Maybe he got it mixed up with the Asylum movie... Of course maybe he really is talking about Herbie the car afterall...

Ah.. but if he was talking about reading the book why would he say 'turn down the lights'?
Don't try that at home kids.. you'll be asking for eye strain, headaches, the lot.
If you turn the lights right down you won't be able to see a thing.

Nah.. I quite like it too and I'm pretty sure I'm not a Tim. God help me.
Anti Piano is hilarious (I particularly liked the leering at the table and the odd way he said 'What news today?')
The FX are laughable... but almost endearingly so..
It actually has alot going for it for lovers of bad movies like me.
But it isn't what Tim said it would be and that, I think, is the main bugbear of the fans.

But it *does* make sense if "Herb" is H.G. Wells.

"Turn down the lights" either to watch the movie, or in recognition that the Gaslight Era was less well-lit; "let Herb take you for a ride" that is, let Wells' *story* take you for a ride; "he mighten agree" that is, Wells might not approve of this adaptation "but at least hes lasted the distance" that is, Wells' story remains popular today.
No offense intended, but I'm guessing English is a second language for Cheploscam.
