Thing is, on Ebay there's no way to back up a claim made. If someone decides not to pay, there's pretty much nothing anyone can do about it. It might have been a joke bid to prevent anyone else from trying to buy it.

Hi there, I have actually spoken to this bloke through ebays e-mail system. I felt it was rediculous the amount of cash he was bidding for this and for a start i thought mabey this was a joke, but if you look at his ebay feedback score its VERY, VERY high so i doubt if its a wind up...... anyhow i thought id pass on the info of how much it costs through amazon.com when this auction had just over a day to go to give this chap time to cancel it if he decided too, and he replyed that he wanted to buy it for his girlfriend who wanted it so much he was willing to pay any price for it, but he didnt have a credit card therefore couldnt buy it from amazon.com......aw well , his money i suppose. I too put a bid in for this for £16 (about the amount it would cost to buy this and ship it from usa to here) and yesterday the chap who was selling the dvd sent me an e-mail offering me a pirate copy at ".....a negoitiated price......" hmmmmmmmm, a bit of dogdy dealing going on here me thinks . i think ill just order it from amazon thank you very much.

Amazon accept postal orders too, so a credit card isn't essential. Anyone who'd pay £100 for a dvd is nuts... or else pretty well off and far too lazy to seek alternate places to get it.

[glow=purple,2,300]Jeez - as long as she knows that this is NOT the pirated Tom Cruise movie! And how did it get to be £100 - there has to be at least 2 bidders desparate to have it to drive the cost up that much!
Sounds a bit odd to me... everyone knows someone who uses amazon.com, so he could ask a friend to get it. I reckon it's a faux listing - a dodgy marketing ploy. PP probably listed it, two employees contracted to bid against each other, and all that's lost is listing fee, valuation fee & paypal fee (if applic.). Meanwhile, interest is generated on this film that's worth £100, so more people will want to buy it - "if it'w worth that much, it must be good".
No way would two people, even if they didn't know how bad it is, put up so much money for a film they haven't seen/heard of. [/glow]
