Guys, so what are the Fighting Machines 'Ulla' and 'Allo' like during the film?

Guys, so what are the Fighting Machines 'Ulla' and 'Allo' like during the film? Absent. Nor are the siren audio signals between the tripods heard.

The end of the story is mostly gone. From the time the Narrator emerges from the ruined house 'till his reunion with his wife is only a few minutes of screen time. So most of the haunting, atmospheric "Dead London" sequence is absent. I find that particularly irksome since the film wastes so much time on repetitive walking shots and unnecessary, added expository dialogue.

What about "The Man on Putney Hill" sequence? Is it there?

Oh dear... this is embarassing, but I've misplaced my copy of the novel. Please describe the sequence you're talking about.

It's after he's left the ruined house and starts making his way into London, he meets the Artilleryman on Putney Hill. After staying overnight, he continues into Dead London.
Sounds like Timbo 'forgot' that bit too... Jaysus.

Oh yes, we do get to hear the Artilleryman's fantasies about guerilla fighting against the Martians. My bad... I was wrong about it being only a few minutes between his leaving the ruined house and the end. Forgot that entire sequence.

Your bad... ;D
Still, it sounds like great swathes of the fillum are pretty forgettable.
Hardly surprising at a hefty and relatively uneventful 3 hours.
"Never mind the quality, feel the width!"

Still, it sounds like great swathes of the fillum are pretty forgettable. To be fair to Mr. Hines that may be just me. When reading the novel I tend to skip over the Artilleryman's fantasizing because it annoys me.

No, don't fall into the trap of being fair to Timbo!!! Meanwhile, a group of irate WotW fans track The Hinester down to his evil lab, sorry, studio...

I could be wrong about there being no "alloo" sound. Just found the following in a review at Eveofthewar.com:
"The cries of the Martians were disappointing. I barely could detect an 'alloo' sound; it sounded more like an eagle’s cry."

Yup on the trailer the FM seems to make a squawking sound. Adds to the killer chicken image unfortunately.
