Seems to me Hines has put too much into the film at the cost of quality for quantity.
From the reviews we are getting at least, he seems to have actually added FX scenes to the story rather than concentrating on less scenes and paying attention to detail on the more crucial events of the story.
Already he could have dropped the Big Ben scene, the women getting melted, the cow getting melted, too much action(or lack of it ) in the thunderchild scene, the long shots of walking.
Even the battle of Horsell common could have been told breifly( as JW war of the worlds) by the AM.
I don't know about the rest of you but I would have forgiven a few ommisions from the book.
The story of the brother could have been shortened to a narrative of what happens to London. The Pal film handled this part of the book adaquatly enough.
