Since a few years ago Mr. Hines was (trying) to show his movie Bug Wars during the Cannes film festival, who knows, maybe he is there this year, trying to show - and sell - his version of the War of the Worlds? I know... but it is just a thought...

Yes, well, as I was saying - JUST AS THE FORUM WENT OFFLINE!!! GRRR!!! - Mr. Hines has been showing Bug Wars in a small backroom a few years ago. He could do the same with WotW. A lot of people from the movie industry come to Cannes to close deals and what not behind the scenes of all the spectacle.

Actually Zoe, we may have finally found the fatal flaw in the theory of Quantum Physics. According to this theory, every possible action we may take will have actually happened in one or more of those parallel universes. Where the theory appears to be on the verge of breaking down is in the release of Pendragons Movie. No one had yet come across such an incredible uncertainty as this until now, so they are trying to modify the theory on the basis that many suspect it may not even be available in these other Universes either. If this could be proved, then quantum physics would be in crisis

sadly enough, I really dont care anymore about PP's version. I dont know why either. I was a very ardent supporter of it both here and at IMDB. Steves version is just blowing my mind right now. I think hes got it down pat. But what I wouldnt give for a period piece. I hope this does see the light of day..but

The reason why we're all going through a bit of remorse is that this was the only version that was actually set in England as in the novell.
Having said that, we have to remember that Tim wasn't going to do a true to the book version either at first so that makes me less sympathetic towards him.

The nearest we will get to a period version is the Wayne version next year. The film version will stick a LOT more to the book and feature the Mike Trim designs and the music. apart from that it should be fairly accurate.

Give it up, guy. Hines is either a total phony or inept beyond belief. Time to face reality. There ain't gonna be a Pendragon WOTW out in the near future, since the DVD deal seems to have fallen apart. And I don't hink Timbo can even afford a ticket to Cannes at this point.

Hi Dudalb. It had hopes on this movie but I gave up after the last 'coming soon' message. I was just wondering if Mr. Hines could be trying to show or sell his movie at Cannes, like he did (showing) with Bug Wars. By the way, there is an interesting post on the IMDB forums, see comments.imdb.com/title/tt0425638/board/thread/18738767?d=19234682The final line says it all: Hines has passion just no talent. From what I've read I indeed believe Mr. Hines has the passion. Sad it all had to turn out this way. Thanks go to MarkG for finding this. -Gnorn

Never mind eh? To use the words of Jeff Wayne's musical.. '..I suddenly had my first inkling of the gulf between his dreams and his powers... I knew I must leave this strange dreamer'. At least we have two WotW films coming this year, Jeff Wayne's on the way and numerous documentaries merchandise and suchlike and it should still be a good year for us.

Still rather depressing, though. Yeah, Hines' did have the passion; that was the main reason I had supported him. Now... I just have the urge to bludgeon him with a toaster.

Unfortunately, passion and five pounds will buy you a cup of coffee. I've met a lot of passionate movie-makers here in the UK, but so far none of them have actually made a movie that's been distributed... it takes passion, business ability and a small amount of talent to get a movie made and released.

But now what is to become of the footage we've seen? If this film has indeed been shot, what is Hine's going to do with it? Can it? Despite the apparent fall-through with the DVD deal, I suspect it'll hit the bargain bins sometime in the next year at least. Just one more torture to consider. The slightest possibility that it might.....just might get released.

If it's been shot, we should have seen something by now, even if it was just another trailer. I may be wrong, but personally I no longer believe the movie ever was shot, just a few bits and pieces for the trailers he did release.

More and more I am beginning to accept the "He finished principal photography but ran out of money for post production" theory. "The final line says it all: Hines has passion just no talent." Just like Ed Wood. Except Wood actualy managed to get his films into release, unlike Hines. Well the completed footage will give him something to show the IRS to prove he made a film when he files for a deduction because of losses on his income tax return....

Yep, unless a miracle happens i can't see this movie ever being released, as Johnny Rotten once said...
"EVER HAD THE FEELING YOU,VE BEEN CHEATED..."
Sums up how sadly i feel about Pendragon and Hinds, regardless of it's percieved faults i did want to see this the most faithful movie adaptation of War of the Worlds.
Ho Hum.

That's why I stood by Mr. Hines for this long. I realy felt he has his heart in the right place and the passion to do this. But indeed, that doesn't get you any far if you don't have the desired talent needed. I'd still watch the movie if it ever came out (if ever) so I can judge myself on how well -or bad- Mr. Hines has done. -Gnorn
