If you do, then Timothy Hines is supposed to be a 20 year veteran of commercial and industrial film making.
I'd really love to know if anyone in Seattle has seen anything that Mr Hines has done such as commercials etc or if there is any evidence of any companies that he's worked for - or that he has owned [ apart from Pendragon and the obvious Troma links of course ].
I've looked on the net but I've come up with nothing.

[glow=purple,2,300]As a shamefaced member of the Hines Brigade, I should think that the commercials Tim has made are the ones that always end with a deep gravelly bass voice over saying 'Coming soon to a [cinema] near you'...
...unless of course, he ain't got to Seattle yet, and he's coming soon to said city.[/glow]

[glow=purple,2,300]I've heard tell of this Santa. Parents assume Wacko Jacko is a perv based on the rantings of some mad money-grabbing loon, warn kids about pedophiles perving in the playground, but take a gruesome delight in sitting their kids onto the lap of a fat bearded bloke called St Knickerless, who blatantly entices them with sweeties and gifts, promising to come in their bedrooms if they pretend to be asleep whilst he empties his sack, and not tell anyone they've seen him. Then he's off to give pleasure to another kid... and another! Then, at the end of the night, he has it away on his toes to the North Pole, where the authorities can't touch him! Father Christmas? (Who's The) Daddy XXX-mas more like!! I bet Mrs Clause is completely in the dark about his once-a-year nocturnal preying - "Sorry luv, had a few jars down the Innuit Inn and lost track of time. I'll make it up to you later. Cook us up some Blubber & Squeak will ya, I'm famished."
You can tell I never got that train set I wanted...[/glow]

Instead of just sitting at our computers and b*tching about it, it seems like we could get it together enough to find a member in the Seattle area to do a little detective work on the ground. We've got almost 800 members now. At least a few should live on the US West Coast. Syrtismajor and I called for this a few months back, but no one responded. Carioca lists his address as Seattle, but he didn't answer.
I'd like to do it myself, track down Pendragon & T. Hines and report back, but I live on the other side of the country.
I'll try again: Does anyone live in the Seattle area or nearby?

The way things are going, the Seattle Police Fraud Squad might be doing a little investigating when the investers start asking where there money went...

"I'd like to do it myself, track down Pendragon & T. Hines and report back, but I live on the other side of the country. " What would tracking down Hines accomplish? He would just give out the same lame excuses and general crap he has been giving out for the past few months, except it would be by telephone or in person. I think the vast majority of people have written Hines off after the latest stunt. And you have to ask, if the film were any good would he have to pull the crap he has been pulling? It over, we have been had, led down the garden path, taken for a ride, and the best thing to is admit and hope that the Jeff Wayne film is good and in the future some reputable film maker who knows what he is doing will do a live action Victorian "War Of The Worlds".

What would tracking down Hines accomplish? What would it accomplish? It would change the discussion from the same-old tedious and boring b*tch session that it's become. It would make us active participants in the conversation instead of passive whiners. And it'd be fun. Why do we even care where Hines is? If he knows whats good for him he'll stay in hiding after the crapola he's pulled. 8th of may is no longer Late April and I for one am now looking forward to Star Wars 3 and after that Steve Speilbergs 'War.' If the Pendragon version IS released in some format I think I may just not watch it in protest.............

Maybe people on this site should start a joint action?
I think it might come under Tort...... take your pick there's 'negligence' - it must be that at least - 'deceit' without criminal intent is possible.... not the same as 'fraud' with criminal intent.... could this project be said to have been misrepresented? Has the film-maker taken reasonable steps to keep people expressing an interest informed? If the film-maker has some information that he has not shared with others then he could have some explaining to do......
The issue could depend upon whether a certain film-maker has a duty of care to people he has made repeated promises to. There won't be a contract as such....... only a promise so it won't be a breach of contract..... but if it could be proved that people had acted on repeated and elaborate representations in good faith when the person making those representations has had plenty of opportunity to correct any misinformation and that this had caused mental distress or even some loss.... then it is possible that he could receive a rap on the nuckles. Damages may or may not be awarded but if they were they might be awarded not because anyone had to be compensated but in order to make an example of him (exemplary) or to punish (punitive).
I am not a professional lawyer by the way...... But I have some legal training and I talk to lawyers and I think it might be worth checking this out if regulars on this site have been distressed as much as it seems - given the number and tone of postings. Such actions - like libel actions which are similar - are very expensive for an individual but a joint action against someone who cannot be expected to have limitless funds to draw on to drag out the proceedings might be worth thinking about. Some lawyers might even handle such a case pro-bono and if so there would be even less to lose.

Zoe , I do hope you are kidding. I know that Hines has messed the fans about but... legal action?? Sorry.. we can't even joke about going down that route on here. This is a non-profit site run by fans remember.. I know some people's feelings are still running high over this but I would suggest that people do as I have decided to do and not talk about this film. All the time we are talking about it, we are giving Pendragon the attention they clearly don't deserve. Let PP slip into obscurity. If they have anything to say, they know where we are. Asylum have shown the way by actually coming here and chatting to the fans. If the others don't want to take advantage of the goodwill here, then that's their lookout. These people should be chasing us.. not vice versa.

I'm 100% with you there Nerfy- legal action would really be taking it way too far- all we have been so far is let down and disappointed by Pendragon Productions continually missing their own deadlines and neither promoting their film professionally or courting their core potential fanbase.
By constantly rattling on about this film with nothing new to go on, we are ourselves keeping and fuelling interest in the movie, without being paid a penny by Pendragon.
Perhaps if we just stop posting anything about the movie and avoid the PP website, we will actually be giving Tim Hines and co the proverbial slap they need to get their collective arses in gear.
Of course, they could just be getting on with it without giving a sh!t what we think- the righteous indignation dollar as Bill Hicks termed it. Who knows? Who cares any more? There are far more interesting and inspiring topics on the forum to be posting on at the moment....

These people should be chasing us.. not vice versa. No I'm not kidding. I absolutely agree that it would be better to let this film drop into obscurity. I hope you didn't take it that I want to start a class action against these people? Quite the reverse, actually.... sick of hearing about it. After all and when all is said and done it's only a film (if it exists ) All I'm saying is that a number of people - an unknown number - are coming on this site and ranting about Hines all the time..... and I think the discussion is over. I can see the point of keeping one thread open for anyone with any news to post but I do get a bit tired of reading 'Oh my God!' posts..... That's why I am suggesting if anyone is really really upset that they arrange a joint action - it doesn't have to involve this site - probably better if it didn't...... If people are distressed enough then probably better they do see if a lawyer would take it on pro bono..... .....Then it would all be sub judice and we could all get some sleep. Zoe

Just for the record, any lawsuit against Hines, unless you can prove material damage, in this case that you lost money somehow, is just plain stupid. Only a really desperate lawyer would waste his time on the case.

Exactly..Best let them slip into obscurity on their own. As I say, we've given them plenty of chances to speak here and take advantage of our wish to talk about their movie and they haven't. They may still want to talk to us and we will listen. It's not too late. BUT.. I shall not waste any more thought on them until then.
