Why are a lot of you down on Tim Hines' version? Surely we should be backing a filum that is set in victorian times and not modern day, we had the crappy 50's version and the telly series now SS is doing an "updated" WOW. do we really need modern? It gets complicated when things are set in present day, our weapons technology is better *in some places* so why not just give then a dose of germs anyhow..quick and simple and an air strike could possibly disrupt Martian building projects and stop the dreaded tripods. Wells didn't have that, all they had was a few guns and a few torpedo rams and suchlike which over all makes it a much scarier proposition...well it does to me. So why have a go at a bloke who is trying his best to make a "proper" version. Jeff Wayne suceeded coz he's version was victorian (Though I hate the epilogue) and that is ace always has been. So please guys don't have a go just be thankful that someone wants to do a faithful filum. I never hoped in a million years that there would ever be a filum based on the book. I'm just thankful and if it does go straight to DVD who cares? Means it's yours to keep forever!

I don't think fans should have to be thankful just because a supposedly faithful film is being made - it still has to be good. People are worried what it will turn out like and that's why people are quite rightly questioning the film makers ability.

To be fair ...any comments for or against this is really a waste of time ... it really does look as if it is a dead duck...at least cinema wise ...28th April .. and absolutley NO NEWS whatsoever from Pendragon nor any update of their site .
i dunno ..It's not Really the same at home on DVD ... The big screen is fantastic for atmosphere/action ...seeing Star wars for instance is not quite the same at home is it .

Wells original story should be on the BIG screen and if this is to be straight to dvd then it's a huge disappointment.

Whenever PP say it's going to be late in the month it's usually much later!
And I'm still hopeful for this film! duh!

I think the vast majority of people are still secretly hanging out for PP's WOTW, even the haters. When even a sliver of new information is released here you watch how fast people are over it. I think we are all quietly hoping it is not a vapour trail, but things don't look good based on facts.

There is nothing new to talk about Re, the PP version. Most peeps are of the 'if it will happen it will happen' mind now.

I don't think he is setting it in the Victorian period. The victorian period ended in 1901 but the uniforms in the trailor look a little later....... Although I have seen them uniforms in paintings from around 1900.....

And yes, I am quite disappointed that it looks very much like few if any of us will ever see this on the big screen.

Although I have seen them uniforms in paintings from around 1900..... This point has been discussed heavily. I think it's clear that Pendragon is using uniforms authentic to the era of circa 1901, altho there's been some argument over whether troops stationed at home had been issued the new field uniforms, or were still wearing the old red and white uniforms which Wells mentions at one point in the novel.

Still- you could save up for a big plasma screen and a hefty surround sound setup- but unless you've really got the disposable income and an already bulging DVD collection, I'd watcht the movie first before making an investment...

I'm just really dissapointed to have been continuously promised by Hinesy that it would be out at this time blah blah blah, yes it will be a worldwide distribution in cinemas, blah blah blah, didn't mind that he had to push it back a month at all, but to now be told that "Coming Soon!" is the best he can do for the people that have waited patiently for this for quite awhile ( I found the Pendragon site about 4 or 5 years ago and have been waiting ever since) it really is like a kick in the nads and makes you wonder why we bothered at all waiting......... I mean, theres a lot of people feeling very ripped off right now, and I think we deserve some sort of explanation.
