If only we had a new trailer to go by - something refreshing from the earlier version. Unfortunately, I am like a child at Christmas ... given a peek at a present. I just have to tear off the wrapping to see the rest ... the suspense is killing me!

This looks like an animatronic (I could be wrong and don't scold me for it). I think you're right, others have said the same. I didn't really care for the old one, primarily because it wasn't as the book describes. Hopefully the new one is much closer.

[glow=purple,2,300]Well, it's a huge rounded bulk, a quivering lipless drooling beaky cakehole, and tentacles that it can stand on...and it looks a bit repulsive.
Wait a minute.... Oh, that's me! Curse this mirror/monitor confusion![/glow]

TEXT Here's hoping it will, Lensman. If they're CGI or Animatronic, I think Tim Hines will do a good job. Even Animatronic (not sure on my spelling?) can look stunning - look at the original Dune film! Impressive mechanical effects.

This is the first time I've seen the poster or any of the Pendragon Martians. And to be honest it scares the sh*t outta me. Mebbe I'll have to get some big strong friends to take me to see it so if I hide I'll be safe. Just enough of a reveal to whet the appetite of appreceative people like me ;D. By the way those of you who claim to take the piss out of the poster saying it doesn't look professional etc have you ever seen some real teaser or final posters? They are not all of the quality of a Drew Struzan! Some are like the Hildebrants..others are worse and the Alien poster was a fu*ki*ng Egg for godsakes and you wouldn't dare not call that a classic would you!!!

Even Animatronic (not sure on my spelling?) can look stunning - look at the original Dune film! Impressive mechanical effects. I agree. Just like any other sort of FX, animatronics can be good ("Babe") or bad ("Jumanji"). But CGI does allow for more flexibility, more freedom of movement, and it keeps getting cheaper unlike other forms of FX. A point on the physical structure of the Martians: Their tentacles were bunched into two groups, one on either side of their mouths. They may have been able to walk on them under Mars gravity, but IIRC they could only drag themselves along under Earth gravity. And they are thin, described as "whip-like", not the thick octopus-like tentacles of the old animatronic model. Amber: Play nice, or no biscuit! (Or, "no cookie" if you're a yank.)

I don't think anyone has aksed this, so I'll give it a shot - this new Pendragon poster, it is like th first one a E picture or a living, breathing, printed onto paper and ready to buy soon - poster?.

[glow=purple,2,300]Or "No Wookiee" if you're into imperial entanglements of a bestial nature... They didn't call him 'Chewie" for nothing you know![/glow]

I don't think anyone has aksed this, so I'll give it a shot - this new Pendragon poster, it is like th first one a E picture or a living, breathing, printed onto paper and ready to buy soon - poster?. Just a guess, but... this is available at forums.eveofthewar.com/photos/displayimage.php?album=15&pos=0in far higher resolution than I've seen for printed, for sale posters. That suggests they're not going to offer them for sale, which calls into question whether they are going to have any but a token number printed up. Pendragon still appears to have no advertising company doing press for them, and without a theatrical distributor, I don't know who if anyone would be paying for printing up posters. I've contacted a friend of mine who gets our SF club & convention all sorts of free posters and movie passes, but since the only press contact I see is one at Pendragon, and many here have said they don't reply to e-mails, I'm not going to hold my breath. Sorry to sound so negative. Of course I'm still looking forward to the film, but I do find it frustrating that they have no company doing publicity for them.
