I quite like the poster- it does look utterly inhuman and unsympathetic.
Yes- the eyes are slightly askew, but so what? The impression I got from the book is that they look quite pathetic when struggling with our gravity anyway.
For me, it will all hinge on how it moves and sounds.....
Still a slightly odd choice for a poster- giving more away than perhaps they should? I was hoping we'd see nothing of the invaders in either Paramount or Pendragon's productions- this poster may take a little of the martians' impact away when the cylinder unscrews....

I think the Martian on the poster works fine, but I do disagree (heathly) that it does not give too much away. Thankfully we are seeing just the eye's and not the entire creature. But like Ridley Scott did with ALIEN, you saw quick glimpses of the thing before seeing it (more or less) whole. In the novel, the narrators first comment on the creature was its eye's. And here we see the eyes and the first comment about the poster is about the eye's.

Hopefully the motion of the martians will be terrifying enough, with lipless mouths quivering and slavering left right and centre.

Actually, I rather like it - just from that small glance we seem to have something that looks better than the earlier concept sketches or the green potato on stalks going past the window.

Come on guys the reaction to this fan art is a bit pathetic, wow, oooh, aaaah! Well thanx again for sharing your "expertise" with us again, Mottie. You're batting 1000. But don't stop-- the unintentional humor is quite entertaining!

Well thanx again for sharing your "expertise" with us again, Mottie. You're batting 1000. But don't stop-- the unintentional humor is quite entertaining! Aaah Lensman, sitting there grunting and dribbling behind your little keyboard, twitching away, probably talking to yourself too.... Your a creepy sicophant, creeping around Charles and the mods like slime. Nobody buys it, you twisted hobbit. The reaction to that poster was pathetic like it made up for the months of silence and broken promises, a goz eyed crappy CG martian with the same old text, woo hoo. It was blatantly photo shop, therefore made by someone who was probably a fan (hines himself...?) so in essence it is fan art, the word professional doesnt come into the Pendragon dictionary. I wait with baited breath for another lensman post of genius, once the mods have ignored it with the incredible bias towards the pro hines gang that they harbour then I will reply, you will pretend it didnt bother you with some half arsed remark and so on until the thread is locked. Yous constant harping on at me is becoming very tiresome. Fixate on someone else mug boy.

[glow=purple,2,300]I quite like this poster. Nice & creepy. Does this rules out the original martian design:[/glow] [glow=purple,2,300]I think that they've moved away from this, which is a shame, because I quite liked it (except that it has too many eyes for my liking):[/glow]

I'm pleased that they redesigned it. I think I would have laughed my way out of the cinema if that had turned up onscreen.
Let's hope that the new design is all good- not just the eyes.

OK, which bit of that thing is supposed to be which??? Is that a beaky mouth facing towards the camera? Why is it filled with portholes like a nuts - it even appears to have a walkway and guardrails on the top.
I initially thought that was a machine of some kind and they were going for an organic feel - the new creature looks far better.

The new one looks more like the book version. I still think the Jeff Wayne ones from the PC game are the best

Not scary enough, although the voices are cool! I love the opening where you see them gassing a little martian dog - horrible creatures.

The Martian in this threads photoshoot looks good and I presume that his beak is facing us? Anyway, I was surprised to see a number of eyes on him! This looks like an animatronic (I could be wrong and don't scold me for it). I gather it's at the part with the writer trapped in the house ... hence the window view!
I think it looks great - though H.G's Martians only had two eyes ... I'm not being critical - just an observation.

That picture is an old picture, from 2002. It obvious is not the same Martian as the one used in the new poster, that one looks much better! Can't wait to see that new Martian come alive...
