don't you all think it is NOW rather silly , I mean we are still getting speculation posts about wether this is going to be good, crap, made, not made ... are we not going around in circles, Haven't we now said basically all we can say about this production until more info comes through or it is released ...I am sure more info will come as the relase date gets nearer, but just because no announcements such as the distributor for example doesn't mean the film has been binned .... they may not want to announce it yet, no law against that, same with piccies, trailers and updates ...it's up to them to show them and it's their descision as to when.

Double Standard boy, you've already written off Spielbergs version before seeing it based on your own prejudices. Why should we cut Hines any more slack?

"Double Standard boy, you've already written off Spielbergs version before seeing it based on your own prejudices. Why should we cut Hines any more slack? " Espicialy since The Spielberg version has a definent release date , which you can't say about Hines' version.... I don't expect Hines to match Spielberg which it comes to marketing and promotion, but a actual, beleivable release date, or at least saying we have no release date yet, is just being a professional, instead of giving us a release date that anybody with any sense knows is not going to happen...

No disrespect to your posting, but you could go on and on untill your blue in the face about this subject and you will not get anywhere, there are too many who have made up there minds, given there opinions on this matter. I'm kinda new to this board, but have been lurking in the shadows for some time.
My personal outlook on this is very much as wait and see. This however doesn't stop individual excitment, anxiety and hopes from being voiced. Its kinda half the fun. I just wonder if the posts will continue to proliferate once the films are in the can. For example do people still talk about Jurrasic Park?

Jurrasic park has been released. No one really cared if that became a film until it was announced. It was CUTTING EDGE and brilliant. I watched it so many times at the pics. It was a dream come true.
WOTW is a life long ambition for many people to see on the big screen. You are right!!! It is fun to talk about it, speculate and argue bout. Lets keep it up.

Er Cylinder ...what you on about ...I have certainly not written off SS version ...ok I have said that it probably will be like ID4 , but that is just my point of view ...I have never stated that it is total crap , never gonna be released, lego brick crap SFX ....jeez I have hardly said bugga all about the film... It may not be my preferred version but I have not said I am not gonna see it. true ..I don't like the idea of a modern version, and some of my remarks have reflected that..but i know the film iscoming out, and I am gonna see it And who the hell are you calling "boy"!!!! would it be ok then for me to call you a Tw*T then!!!!!! also the main point of this thread/post was not to silence the debate, but to point out that we have speculated over and over the same points, - will it, won't it...again I repeat ...we have to wait and see...won't we? ??

can't really comment on the SS production on the PP site Ahh right thats cool TOMOHAWK, but you did make the comment here and it interested me, its just the comparison never came naturaly to me and still doesnt so I was intersted to see what you point of view was, thats all. You are right though, wait and see is the best policy, but some guys are saying that but they have already written off Mr Spielbergs film as an ID4 remake, if you get my drift.

For example do people still talk about Jurrasic Park? Interesting point Dr M. The truth is that this site has been here since 2002 and has always had a healthy membership and a damn good community, as any other long term member will tell you. The beauty of the world of War of the Worlds, and Wells himself, is that there is always something to talk about. The movies have definately helped to raise awareness (and from that, membership) and perhaps, in time the postings on these threads will die off a little but not drastically so. The speculation will be over but the fan base will still come to talk about the finished product. I can name other hugely popular Movie based Web sites that still flourish (Outpost #31- a site devoted to 'The Thing' for example and that movie is 20+ years old, or Jawad's Dreamworks fansite) and these WotW movies being out there will bring more fans in. People will also continue to discover the book. I don't think it's realistic to expect everyone to fall silent until the movies arrive. I believe that people want to share their hopes and fears about these projects as much as I do. That's what this site is all about after all. As long as it's kept real and we all respect each other's opinions then I see nothing wrong with talking about this.

Truth be known, many are true fans, but others come along for the joy and the ride. Some posts and threads are new, impressive, well manored, some are just scrapping the bottom of the barrol (excuse the term used). When things start to slack, its a certainty that someone is bound to turn up the heat and because the flames have been lingering at a low slow period - BANG, up they shoot as if someone has just tipped petrol everwhere. It does not hurt to do this, as long as we respect 'other' people's views. Its just sad to see this respect at times being ignored.
