Motile i see your point, My lass only knows about the film from what I have told/shown her , but what if this is part of a PP plan ...leave people in the dark then *bang* steam in with the announcement and funky trailer a few days before it is released. What is really required is a Telly trailer !!!! Perhaps Mr Hines is teasing us ......

maybe those who go and see WOTW on march 30th will actually get to see Chrome preceded by some dodgy 'apology about WOTW not being ready due to a small insurgence in bolivia'...
then once the film is finished there will be another 'apology' FOR the film you've just seen with the comment that this will in no way represent the finished quality of the actual film WOTW when it finally gets released...
let's face it - it's a blessing in disguise that bug wars is unobtainable!!

Bur one point that hasn't been raised ...well maybe Motile has ;D ;D (not having a pop mottie)..for once I may agree with your sentiments on this particular topic ;D ;D If pp are having difficulties..then whats the point of continuing with the film...I hope sincerely that we don't get the message that the film is cancelled/postponed indefinately, but surely if there is problems then why keep to the March 30th release date. Point is .. I am sure PP would rather spend the money on say finishing Chrome and releasing that then to continue to pump money into a stillborn project. Something is happening.......but what ...as I say Mr Hines is keeping his cards close to his chest

If Hines is teasing us its like being teased on the bell end with a rusty spooon, not nice at all!
I say there is no plan, I say they are winging it day by day, putting off the phone calls from investors ringing to ask were the hell is the 28 million quid they handed him 4 years ago.
The conspiracy nut inside my head is screaming TAX LOSS! TAX LOSS! Thats when a company saves money by actualy have somthing fail, like a local night club near me, it was built as a tax loss, it had to lose money to save the parent company (first leisure) but it was a success, so they closed a few nights and cut the door staff, started letting the chav scum in, in the end it started making losses. I see it happening here. PP is in such a state, this might have to fail and with no world disasters ti hide behind this time....

Actually here's whats happening .
Hines has just recieved a phone call - he's got to go and visit a brother he didn't know he had on the other side of the US after he recently found out an estranged relative had recently passed away. When he got there he found his brother was a 50 year old autistic. So he got an oldsmobile and he's currently driving through america on his way to vegas cos on the journey of discovery he and his estranged brother have gone through he's discovered that his brother can 'count cards'. with the money hes' going to pay off his debts and finish the movie...one touching moment happened in a motel when tim was showing him how he plans to build a model of london and burn it down. He was setting fire to the model when his brother starts panicking and hitting the model shouting ' crap man, it's crap man." Then tim say's you - your 'crap man' - I remember you from my childhood...anyway, they go to vegas and he's managed to raise about $80K which is all he needs to finish the movie...so it will get released on March 30th (but he will lose custody of 'raymond' but will go to see him regularly)
I don't know - that story sound familiar ?...

People know about it. It does not take long for gossip to spread. The PP version has been mentioned in magazines (some sci-fi mags I ve seen here in the UK) so what other magazines have been highlighted about the film - who knows, but people are aware and a lot more than we know about.

One thing that gives me slight optimism is that a guy called Kerry Conran made the film SKY CAPTAIN entirely with cgi and blue screen. There were no sets as they were done entirely by computer and the sfx look fantastic.
Only problem is though he had the backing of a major studio and I think the budget was 60 or 70 million dollars and he also had major [ or fairly major stars] in it. Having said that - as has been said before budget isn't everything...........but it helps!

OK H_C everybody knows about it, so all these people will be waiting with baited breath for the promissed WOTW spectacular -(Hines has said we wont believe the FX, he says they have pushed the envelope in SFX, he right about one thing, when I saw those FX I couldnt believe it)- but hang on theres no sign of it...er wait hang on dont walk away! and so all those who may have seen it now wont because PP has lost credability.

The budget thing is academic, Hines is only 20m away from the sky capatin budget and he doesnt have to spend millions on tons of stars and the insurance for stars and stunt doubles and all the star treatment and the jetsetting as all the stars were from Britain so to hell with the budget thats no excuse for keeping the fans in the dark. The CG in Sky captain was pretty impressive, ive seen nothing so far even near it, not by a long way.

All this conspiracy chatter makes for good reading! The sad fact is that this one has a much better chance of being true than most other conspiracies ;D
This is fast turning into the movie equivalent of vaporware! You can now see even the more optimistic ones on this board starting to question Tim Hines strategy. Still it keeps us occupied while waiting for the main Spielberg event I guess.
How about this for a conspiracy? Suddenly April 1st arrives and Spielberg and Mr Hines make a joint announcement to the Press that there are no movies and that this was just the biggest April Fools joke in history! This then causes one of the biggest riots in history among fans which over the course of time, due to chinese whispers, distorts and spreads to Joe Public as being being caused by an invasion from Mars which then causes further panicing and the end of Civilisation as we know it.... ;D
Meanwhile... Somewhere on the other side of Mars out of reach of the seeing eye of NASA probes is a real Martian civilisation who were drawing up their plans against us, only to be dissapointed at the Earthlings doing their job for them...

It has crossed my mind on a few occasions that this could turn into another prank, like Orson Welles did back in 1938 with his radio play. Conspiracy?, most of what we are doing is just reading between the lines.
What else can you do when its starring you right in the face. Past the thin and the thick of it, plain and simple, Hines has had a rough ride with this project. Shame its been changed so many times, good to hear its a faithful adaptation but lets us fans be the judge of that when we do get to see it on the big screen. If the exspectations are too high, who are we to argue if it is released only as a DVD presenation, at least its been released, but shame its not seen on the big screen. Next comes the budget, if its a low budget affair, the FX may not look that good on big screen, but better on the small screen.
Dont think for one minute that WE are the only people talking about this movie, because we are not. I wonder how many publications now about it but are still waiting for news. How many cinamas are waiting for the news if it will be screened there. Retail outlest wondering if they will have any stock to sell from this film. Then last on the list is the fans - wondering to what is going on as it gets closer and closer to the dead line - cross that out, persoanlly I think the deadline has already passed by.
