Not wishing to cause any offence to those that stand by this film, but I have been watching its progress with bated breath over the past couple of years. I have decided to come to my own conclusions of this film - it is remarkable that the film is going ahead, remarkable that someone should take it on in the first place, but certain things don't add up and one good example is it cinama release date - March the 30th is a matter of weeks away or next month.
I am telling myself 2 things to better the situation that we as fan's have been put in - 1/ the film IS being released but on in selected cinamas around the world (not a world wide release as indicated By Hines), 2/ the film has been decided to go 'straight' to DVD, but as Hines stated before Christmas (2004) this would not be the case things 'sadly' can change in a matter of hours/days.
I can only assume that if a press release is not issued by the end of this month then the film will not hit any cinama screens this March/April - lets just hope we get proven wrong.
I am VERY concerned about the outcome of this film - I hope we are not going to be let down again.
Please, no arguing or fighting on this thread - positive comments only, so lets keep it cival.

I've been saying that for ages but its been taken as a critisism rather that a general observation and mild warning to those who were pinning their hopes on March 30th.
Unfortunately for the WOTW project Pendragon dont have a good track record with releaseing films at all, never mind on time, Chrome was due out in 2003.
BUT would it not be better to wait and get a better more polished version when they are ready instead of rushing it out to beat a deadline? With that said a later date would clash with other projects and the average Joe would not draw the distinction between the two.
Maybe it will be released on March 30, we dont know, were not privy to the innerworkings of Pendragon and they may have things up their sleeve. We wont know until March 30 or until a statement is released by Hines.

Seems so
Hines really has toimake an announcment now, or loose more credibilty. Delay is forgivable, being left in the dark tilthe last minuite, as has often been Pendragon practice as of late, only causes more resentment. I would have hoped theywould have learbed this by now.

I agree with the film being delayed to get it right instead of releasing it rushed, but please dont leave it until march 29th to let us know.

i was just back checking. I take it H_C that you are refering to an earlier letter from Mr Hines in which he states that... '...The date posted on our website, 30 March 2005, is the worldwide release date. Some minor adjustments may be made country to country, based on a variety of factors relating to individual distribution contracts within each region.'

That and the "cast messages" where the cast state the movie will be out March 30th and invite us to join them in cinemas, the text at the end also states March 30th as does the website and howstuffworks.com.
It takes a couple of months just to get the cinemas their movie reels in time for the date so you would think the cinemas would be advertising up coming movies in good time, it is their buisness after all.

The thing thats going around in my mind is this claim that they changed projects due to 9/11 even though the release date was still years off, now a company invests loads of money on a project they dont just suddenly change because of a disaster. I think that they got sued by Paramount, I think they got their asses smacked in court because Paramount owned the right to make a modern day version. The excuse was used because a gagging order was imposed to protect paramounts interests. After this they tried to knock up Chrome using the sets and props from the now trashed WOTW project. It was due for release in 2003 but no distributer would take it on and with out funds to do it themselves it sits in limbo. Because investors have given money for a WOTW project they had to make it, the only way was to go back to the source material, make it authentic. Without the proper funds and staff after court and the failed Chrome it was an up hill battle, March 30th is set before a distributer is found, using a trailer containing unfinished FX they attempt to find a distributer last minute, none are found. What happens next is anyones guess. Just a tragic story of little people and big buisness. Just playing by the way

'...The date posted on our website, 30 March 2005, is the worldwide release date. Some minor adjustments may be made country to country, based on a variety of factors relating to individual distribution contracts within each region.' You can't deny the fact he says 'world wide release' for the 30th March. If he states otherwise we would all like to see it. . . . The countries and distribution is something that should have been cleared up months ago, and if it has, which I beleive it has NOT due to the lack of information released regarding what countries are going to show this film and when, there is no way (repeat) NO WAY that the UK including Europe are going to see this movie within the next 2 months at this rate - doubtful of the US too. OK, those of you living in the US who are fans, what have you seen that indicates this film is 100% released for the 30th March?, other than what is seen on the PP site and other WOTW sites that have had the same news for months/weeks. I really do hope that I am proved otherwise, but come the later part of March I would expect to see a press release stating a 'delay' in the movie. NOTE: I am not having a pop at Hines, I support all 3 of the WOTW projects, but there is no denying that from day one, the PP version has not been smooth sailing and we have been kept in the dark far too many times. When this happens, you then ask as to WHY we make negative and sometimes destructive comments about a particular project. I am wondering to what is going on with the PP version and their marketing department. It is not normal practice to keep the news of a films release back for so long considering its release is a over 'one month' away. H_C

mmh - that's an interesting theory mot - I can almost see it.
Certainly the delay because of 911 was utter nonsense - like they were' ready to release it ' or something. no - they still had 4 years work to do!!!
I can see what your saying about chrome...
Well, as I've said I think they'd be stupid to release two months before Spielberg - by then Spielberg and Cruise will be doing the 'chat show' circuits - the trailers will be out - the magazines and the entire PR machines will be humming so loud you wouldn see a pendragon picture if it dropped out of your radio times on a free DVD marked play me..
plus ANYONE know what the other big movies for April are...if there are any dogs bollox movies planned for release they are also going to be hogging the limelight...
I mean I wouldn't want to be opening so close to April 1st!!

Maybe this is all just a publicity stunt to get attention they wouldn't have had otherwise for Chrome.
Maybe their W.O.T.WORLDS doesn't exist. After all, isn't Chrome supposed to be coming out later this year. Doesn't it also have the same actors who are supposed to be in the W.O.T.WORLDS.
Bit of a coincidence there maybe - and maybe all of a sudden they'll announce this film has been cancelled or delayed for some reason or another until after Chrome hits dvd or the cinemas - so people will go and fork out wads of cash to see Chrome to get a picture of what their W.O.T.WORLDS will be like - but then their W.O.T.WORLDS will mysteriously never turn up.

WOOOHO!
If I were Hines I'd keep ANY movie well hidden until WOTW release date but you may be right - I'd put NOTHING past Pendragon..man they is a slippy as eeeels ...investors are a panicky lot...they're like gazelles - one false move and they'll be bounding away across the tundra in search of greener plains...

I think Fallingstar was joking there But he does have apoint. If the die hard fans (us) cant see this film coming March 30th then what do the non fans think? Nothing, they dont know about it yet. Now if you want to make any money you need loads of bums on seats or you need loads of people renting or bying your DVD. Hang on nobody except the fans know about this yet, everybody is in the dark.... A movie is out on just over a month and nobody knows? the ones who do know dont realy know if they know? See my point? Its crazy.

I'm most probably talkin complete bollox I know and only putting forward an idea but there again has anyone really seen any concrete evidence apart from a few photo's, a tiny bit of film and plenty of rumours flying around left right and centre. For all we know they could have just cobbled together a few images and a bit of film here and there while they've been busy tackling the real project they've been working on for the past few years - CHROME.
