What's everyone's thoughts on the Handling machines being able to climb buildings?
I myself think that it's a little strange.

To be quite honest, I've always thought that the JW ones look as if they should - they are very spider-like, doesn't take much of a stretch of the imagination.

I guess you mean the one in the 'Blue Monkey' footage? I kinda liked it actually. They were quick and scary, just how they should be.

i dunno, the JW tripods are pretty massive. bigger than most buildings if you really look at the paintings, Would they really need to climb?

Nah I doubt they'd need to climb buildings - they'd probably just smash them into little pieces and then get the humans out of them. Do you think that those shots will feature in the movie? I know that sometimes it is good to try new ideas and stuff but I personally can't see it working all that well.

We might see some clibing big ben perhaps...
Anyway in the BM footage we see handling mahcines, and they start to build them after the cylinder crashes onto the house on the next album discs...

Not sure what the movie ones will be like.. and Jeff isn't letting on at the moment. The ones in the more recent CGI tests were slow and lumbering.. a bit too slow, I thought. I would like to see them big but agile.

I think Handling Machines climbing building is a little daft . What if the Handling Machines could stagger up on extended legs to the height of Fighting Machines? Then at least they could look directly into a window or door! Looking at those big green bulbous eyes would be a damn site scarier then staring at its belly

You missed what? If you mean the Handling Machine climbing the building, it was featured in the legendary 'Blue Monkey' footage.

Isn't the Blue Monkey footage no where on the web anymore? Isn't there a LITTLE bit on Jeff's History of WotW video?
I can't remember where I've seen the BM footage because I thin kI haven't seen all of it....

Seen it now on the JW site, looked cool but unrealistic, wouldnt the side of the building just fall off?

I think the machines should be pretty fast and agile but the idea that they can climb buildings is stretching things a bit and again taking things into the realms of silliness. As refugee says - the building would most probably collapse.

Either collapse or when it sticks it's foot on the building it goes straight through it...
