Would you want to see a CGI War of the Worlds in 'glorious' 3D? Imagine the Heat Ray coming at you, or a Tentacle lunging out!
Share your thoughts guys!

YES !!! Seeing that more and more filmmakers are deciding to film their future projects stereoscopically it's the logical thing to do. Now some of you may not now but in a few years or so you will see movies in 3d without the nasty glasses and the headache that came with 3d movies before this day and age. 3d is just around the corner not only for cinema but also for your tv's at home. See this for more info about 3d-tv.

I saw the international space station movie in 3D at the IMAX. Awesome experience! I particularly loved the launch of the Russian Proton rocket roaring off into space and the debris flying into the camera. Just like being there but much safer LOL

IMAX is good to a certain point, and having it done for TWOTW is not a good point. I saw James Camerons "Titanic - Ghosts Of The Abyss" which was spectacular in IMAX 3D on a screen the size of Africa, but it was costly to make in the first place. Cameron does not have to worry about budgets for his films, but Jeff does, he only has under £27 million to make this film. Having a IMAX 3D film restricts you considerably. No one in the right mind who is doing there first major film would touch a 3D film with a proverbial barge pole with the limited amount of 3D screens around the world. You certainly would not attract the amount of people to make back what you have spent, plus it would cost you again big time to format the film back into a watchable DVD release. I have the "Titanic - Ghosts" DVD in both new formatted 2D and a rare Japanese 3D which is almost unwatchable in 3D. Bad move for the produces of the 3D DVD, but the sales were very good for the 2D version.

I agree, IMAX needs special camera equipment and to be honest I am not sure a CGI movie would be quite the same experience as a live action movie. 3D is intended to make the experience much more real and in your face and I don't think this would work as well with CGI since the realism isn't there to begin with.

Never seen anything at IMAX, but I'm not so sure about that statement Timeship, yes I can see that cgi doesn't have the real scence about it but in the near future it very well could be exacly like real life! No need for actors!
But cgi now-a-days satisfys me! Look at the computer stuff on Paramount's recent Wotw, very real.
And when 3d cinema becomes the main "thing" it may drag at first but effects and realism will gradualy become better, just like the special effects we have now.
---
And mentioning the 3d factor (3 dimensions), a possibility for a future cinema/activity thing when mabey you are in it or perhaps futur gaming, introducing the 4th dimension even more, (Remember Zelda64? That was in some sort 4d because you controlled your time travell at tour own will, and I'm sure a few other games have that too).
---
Witter over now people! You can come out from your hiding places. Gnorn, smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

I'm sure it will Krys666 but it isn't there yet as Final Fantasy showed. Machines and buildings are already pretty convincing but they say people are much harder to do and tend to end up looking wooden.
