I was watching the DVD from the collectors edition, and I was impressed by all the CGI footage that was in it. I was curious, as to whether this was all test footage for the movie? It certainly looked exciting, and now I really can't wait to see this movie!

The images of the cylinders leaving Mars, heading towards Earth, on Horsell Common and the shots of the Fighting Walking while firing its Heat Ray are the R&D footage for Jeff's film. The rest is as Nerfy states, stuff from the PC, Playstation and bits and bobs from over the past 27 years.

What about that great POV shot where someone is trying to run away from an advancing tripod but doesn't quite make it, the final shot being the hood looking down directly at the viewer/unfortunate Victorian gent? Probably the fat guy from the 'Panic in the Streets' picture, cursing the day that cake shop opened next to his house.

LOL Curate, that was so funny :-)
Anyhoo, the quality of the tv spot on internet is not that good, so it is difficult to comment on the quality of the scenes. But that Horsell Common scene looks pretty neat, as for composition and use of colors. Exactly like the painting. But I'm a bit confused by the opening of the cylinder. It looks like the top is floating. And what's with all the light coming from within the cylinder? I hope this is gonna be changed for the movie.

This is only research & development footage, nothing finalised, so its early days yet. The shot of the FMs blowing upm the building and firing the HR towards the camera are old stock footage from years ago.

I love the little clip of the tripod's foot, crashing through a building and landing on a bus, or atleast what looked like a bus.

Indeed. That Tripod leg coming down looks very up to date - is it really old footage?

No it is new, you can tell because the foot is one from the new fighting machines, the others weren't as.....detailed. Compare the feet of the new tripod to that of the old one and you'll see what I have tried to say in such a poor way lol.

I love the little clip of the tripod's foot, crashing through a building and landing on a bus, or atleast what looked like a bus. Thats 'old' footage from the BLUEMONKEY short made in the late 90's. It looks new because of the design was used for the foot you see now in the R&D footage.
