On the Jeff Wayne store site there are images of other machines. Since the handling machine, FM, and flying machine have all been rendered for the movie, are the other machines also going to be in the film- and more importantly - what do these machines do?
Xeno Telepath? The Tempest? The Constrictor? Scout Machine? Scanning Machine? Bombarding Machine? Electric Machine?

Last I heard the only machines to be featured will be the Fighting Machine, Handling Machine and the Flying Machine. Jeff's movie is based on the book and the musical, not the games, so no other machines would have a place there. It's a pity in a way as I think the other game machines have got their own iconic status now with the fans but I can see the reasoning behind not including them. I'd love to see a Tempest stomping about but I don't think it's going to happen. Have you not played the games? I can list the machines purposes in the games if you don't know what they do.

The film will only feature the Fighting Machines, Handling Machines the new Flying Machine and off course the cylinder. We may (I hope) get to see something on the lines of the digging machine that is mentioned in the H.G.Wells novel, used for enlarging the pits - with any luck.

I'll have a quick go Nerfy!
Xeno Telepath- Using the martian's telepathic powers, can over power humans and when they are driving their machines, so they will fire as if they are drunk! The Tempest- HUGE Machine! 4 Legs, 3 guns (I don't know what they are though), The Constrictor- 4 legs, the Martian Elders use these, 1 Heat Ray, 2 Heat canister launchers, destroy them by hitting the weapons off. Scout Machine- Small version of Fighting Machine, blue eyes insted of green, Heat Ray, 3 legs, about the size of a bungalow etc. Scanning Machine- 4 legs, Very armoured, no weapons, scans surrounding, if it is scanning and you move in the scanning area, it's sends in reinforcements (Flying Mahcines etc). Bombarding Machine- Two legs, has protective forcefield (aas in '53 film) and so indestructable, ubless it is firing it's weaponry which is 1 Heat Canister Launcher. Electric Machine- 6 Legs, close to ground, I call it an "Insect", has 2 weapons, both Electric rays (but they're of course not "rays", so I don't know exacly what they are caled).
Others from the Playstation Game (as I have not played the PC game):
Sentry- Statue like structure with weapon at top, base immovible, weapon either Heat Ray; Electric Ray; Heat Canister Launcher
Others: Martian Home(?)- Reddish type triglodite looking structure, easy to destroy, no defence. Martian Camp/Base etc: Metal structure, some have factories that produce machines etc. Some very strong. Martian Teleport Machine- Directed directly to Mars, machines come out, so Invunrable supply unless teleport device destroyed. Fences- Mostly electric, some are a green colour. Use for keeping human out or in an area. Human Farm- Holding humans for later to be eaten. Red Weed- Destroys Human machines, slows human machines down. Invunrable. Martian Elders- The big men, they just sit there but can use a Constrictor to move around and attack etc.

Thanks for the information.
I've never played the game. I seen it years ago shown on that Reboot program early in the morning. The game didn't get much exposure at all, and wasn't in the shops long.

Watch the media presentation, there appears to be more machines in the feature film than the three major machines.

Actually Ashe, that footage is from the old Blue Monkey promo and the test footage, not the film. But I agree.. it is well worth a look. It's pretty good considering it was done a few years ago. There will be only the 3 main machines in the CGI movie.

am guessing people have not played the game cos the xeno's actually kick ass
The xenos destroy buildings in one shot and can dstroy vechiles in one shot, but destory three at a time The tempest have two fooking massive guns that kick ass it can destroy in one or two shots The constrictor is pretty wnak, it fires black smoke out that have never helped me once
The pc game is great I play it all the time

Actually alot of people here have played the game. The point is that none of the game machines will be in the movie except the three that appear in the novel.

I for onr am glad the game machines arent showing up. They were good for a RTS, but c'mon, for this? It's pretty clear even if the Martisans REALLY did have them, they wouldn't really need them

I'm surprised you haven watched it, I'll find the link for you As Nerfy said that is a few bits and bobs from the famous BLUE MONKEY feature from the late 90s. I did a small reveiw a few weeks ago about what the full feature is like. robk.proboards13.com/index.cgi?board=jeffmovie&action=display&thread=1115408990
