Sorry guys, but I can't post the images here but if you go over to Jeffs site www.thewaroftheworlds.com and go to page 4 of the MEDIA GALLERY you will see 2 images of 'work in progress' of H.M.S Thunder Child and the gate enterance to Horsell Common. I have seen the fly over pass of the Thunder Child as it is wonderful so the image on the site does not give it full justice. . . Thought I would mention it. H_C

That picture doesn't do the Thunderchild justice- but that's because it's small and therefore doesn't show much detail. Looking good though.
Looks like they're using Maya for the movie.

I have the moving fly over sequence of THUNDER CHILD here, and its beautiful and as its been said, that image certainly does not do it any justice. H_C

Horsell knows Jeff. But I'm sure he can answer it better instead of my short reply :-)

Is the picture of the thunderchild fully textured and rendered, cos in the musicla it is an iron clad and its obviously grey, though in this shot its not an iron clad and its black, this confuses me.

I wouldn't allow yourself to get too confused over it Redweed. That image doesn't look very finished to me. I think it's just a test piece.. plus I think some of the machinery and so on has had a slight redesign, perhaps so it works better on film. Remember also that the well known 'Thunder Child' in the Trim painting is a little different to the ship Wells described. Maybe they are going for a little more accuracy with this rendering.. although it still doesn't look much like a torpedo ram to me. I expect we'll find out how JW's new Thunderchild looks in due course.

I can't remember but doesn't it look nothing like the one from the album!?!?!
I like the entrance to Horsell Common though! Nice! And it's not even coloured or got detail!

Actually, when you put the 2 images together, both TC seen on the site and album cover are very much alike. The main differance is the shelter deck that is at the stern, seen on the CGI test sequence I have (not visible on the site image). Without seeing or even knowing if Mike Trim did any sketches of THUNDER CHILD (still waiting to hear off Mike about Q&As) that shows the shelter deck as you cannot see it on the album cover artwork.
The stern shot is nice as under the lower plate of the shelter deck is the huge name plate with the ships name.
The CGI test shot I have shows a fly over sequence of the ship. The ship is stunning, though my only negative comment is that the ship is lacking a lot of deck details - mushroom vents, capstans, piperail air vents, authentic bollards and windlasses and much more. The steam pipes on the funnels are incorrect and lacking whistles.
The CGI shots and site does show the ship with a later style topedoe ram upon the bows.

I'm sorry but I still say it looks different from the original artwork. www.markta.co.uk/images/wallpapers/thunderchild.jpgIt looks more jagged and straight edges, the cgi version look smore round and soft. But as you said this shot does it no justice. I can't wait to see the detail and movement from the Red Weed! Also the black smoke...

Don't forget guys, this stuff is only R&D and not the final thing, so changes can be made.

Indeed but i too hope they eventually go back to the album Thunderchild or something in between them. Let's hope the quality will be somewhere near like an movie as Final Fantasy: Advent Children (Offtopic: no that's not that movie from years ago it's an new one with an story(!!) actually , go see the trailer here : www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1669 )

The image you see on Jeffs site is the albums THUNDER CHILD. The main differance is the ships bows, more prominant in its 'ram' shape. The stern would, be next but as you dont see it on the album cover as its submerged it was left to the department to come up with the look you see now. Apart from other obvious deck details, the ship is as close to the one seen on the album cover.
