Hello everyone,
I was just sitting around thinking about the CGI movie and I had a thought. A lot of time has been spent wondering about what the Martians and their fighting machines will look like. Well, I have another question. What are the people going to look like? Are we going to have people that look like the CGI Final Fantasy movie? If the fighting and flying machines are any indication then I am sure that the humans will look just fine. I just wanted to know if anyone had heard anything or seen anything about the humans in the CGI movie. Take care.

I hope Jeff Wayne really raises the bar again with this and the humans look even better than Final Fantasy which I'm sure I read cost 130 million dollars [ I might well be wrong there though ]. Walking with Dinosaurs proved that sfx could be done to Hollywood [ well almost Hollywood ] standards with a much lower budget, so let's hope this movie looks fantastic and is really up to the minute state of the art.

Good point there tet1138. The CGI test shots show just how good the machinary is going to be, and this is a good starting point when it comes to other images. The realistic look to the test shots will certainly not differ when it comes to seeing buildings, tree's and even humans. I saw the test shot of the water (for Thunder Child) while at Jeffs studio and it was very photo-realistic. Although creating a human with all the correct human features is still in its early years in the film industry, there is enough hardware out there to create something rather special for the Jeff Wayne film.

I haven't seen the movie, except for trailers and sh*t, but I hope the humans, and the overall graphic representation will be a lot like Polar Express. Like the pictures are actualy painted. -Gnorn

Yeah, I could see that working. . . I wonder if his head goes all the way to the top of that hat.

I was more impressed with the sheer volume of his 'tauche Yep, I'd hope the humans look something like Polar Express too. I adore the handpainted original album artwork and something close to that would be perfect. When I first heard that there was going to be an animated film I was hoping that the whole thing would be done in that same hand-drawn style. Oh well! Oh and errr... Hello. (not very good at introducing myself). It's great to find this little refuge here and finally see people who are waaay more obsessed with WOTW than me. In a far too tangled way to try to explain, Astro and I are friends and..... well..... I'd say kindred-spirits if that didn't sound too tree-hugging

Welcome to the site badabing, hope you enjoy your time here. We do get into some rather at times 'heated' debates, but all in a healthy kind of way H_C

Thanks for the welcome H_C, tis good to be here.
Speaking of 'heated', I really don't mind what the humans look like too much, as long as we get to see plenty of em getting 'heated' and chased with the dreaded heat-ray *evil cackle* ULLA, ULLA ! I do hope the terror isn't toned down too much to get past the film classification board.

The way the people are presented will have a big impact on the acceptability of the film. Yes- Final Fantasy cost a fortune, but it was extremely groundbreaking in the look and animation of CGI. Things have come a long way since though and I can imagine a very stylized look to fit the rest of the work.
Also, it's how the people act, not just look- Pixar can take a bouncy ball and give it a very human character. Which, with the storys, is what makes them so damned good.
You also mentioned water H_C- for many years, though water textures were used in software like Bryce, it was recommended not to put water in a scene unless you really have to and then sparingly. It is a very hard element to make convincing. However- look at the waves on Finding Nemo and the water in the whale's mouth- absolutely amazing... The groundwork has already been done.
