If I were Jeff I would stick with the original master recordings of Richard Burton, assuming the film is to contain narration.

I thought he was going to use the radio versions soundtrack and add it to the CGI film. I like all the actors in the poll bar one... It was however between Tom Baker and John Hurt. Although Tom Baker was the Doctor and a great actor to boot...I have picked John Hurt as I think he is more suited to WOTW than Mr Baker is!

Well, as no-one added alfred molina to the poll i've voted for my favourite of John Hurt. While I think Tom Baker has a good voice I think he would be a bit too dramatic for the role, if JW is not going to use the original RB vocals (and I hope he does, it will lose a certain something if he replaces the narrator and other characters) then I think John Hurt can play it in a similar enough style to RB. AH, while being a damn good actor doesn't come across well on voiceovers, his performance in Spartacus was ... "not great" in my view. Slick2097.

John Hurt for me too.
Tom Baker while a great man, is too over the top and like Brian Blessed (who could shout for england!) would imo be too funny to be taken seriously. ;D

True, DF. Tom is now too well known for his brilliant Little Britain voice overs.. Whilst I love his 'fruity baritone' I'd find it hard to take him seriously. Boogaloo!

ohhhh come on guys it has to be patrick stewart all the way...
watch the x-men bit before the starting credits close your eyes and listen to his narrration bit on mutation and then tell me he's not the man for the job.
p.s. he also does his narration bit in the x-men 2 before the starting credits also.

I have the Return To The Center Of The Earth CD by Rick Wakeman and Patrick Stewart narrates that and he does a bloody good job of ity too.

Horsell I agree with TRTTCOTE, Patrick Stewart does a great job, especially when he describes the battle above the lidenbrook sea (with the terrodactyl)...
I just think Hurt would be a closer match to Burton.

[glow=red,2,300]I agree that Burtons voice would be preferrable... but is there enough dialogue to carry it through? Failing that it's a very tough choice... Tom Baker certainly can do the job.. after watching him in Talons of Weng Chiang and Horror of Fang Rock (two Dr Who episodes recently shown on tv here that I hadn't seen since I was little) I think it's a crying shame the man didn't play a good long run of Sherlock Holmes.
That said my vote went to John Hurt, especially considering his voice over at the beginning of Hellboy. Patrick Stewart would be a good choice too though. What's all this about 'return to the center of the earth'? That sounds interesting! [/glow]

Bristish keyboard player Rick Wakeman (who played keyboards for the prog rock group YES) did an album back in 1974? called 'The Journey To The Center Of The Earth' based of Vernes novel. In the late 1990s, Wakeman did a follow up 'The Return To The Center Of The Earth' which was superbly narrated by Patrick Stewart.

Wheres Brian Blessed!?! Anthony Hopkins has an accent similar to Burtons so it's at least close. But I did fancy him as Hollywoods Dr Who if it ever happened.
However, as a narrator I like James Earl Jones(voice of Darth Vader) - Have I got it wrong?
There I said it! I also fancied him as a BLACK Dr Who!!! Hate mail to my wife please. Thanx!

Bumped into him once when coming out of Waterstones bookshop in Wolverhampton. The plank was standing right outside the door, the only door unlocked that swung outwords. Did not know it was him as he had his back to the door, so I asked if he could moved so the door could be used, he turned, I clocked who it was and he said 'Im on my phone if you don't mind', for which I replied 'who cares, your blocking a doorway and fire exit' - he soon shifted ;D

I would definately have to go with Joe Pasquali as I beleive his voice carries the depth and seriousness required for the material My first choice would definately be Burton as for me, the music only really makes its impact when his voice ads the edge to it. From the list i'd say Anthony Hopkins, like maniacs says, his voice is very similar to Burtons.........but Hopkins might was a lil more cash for doing it than Tom Baker & the recordings of Burton would narrate it for free at JW's convenience.
