You do like to type, dontcha?! ;D
Even for commercial reasons, I doubt that Jeff Wayne would even consider making a sequel. The only people who would really talk about this are the faceless corporates who receive most of our hard earned beer vouchers in record sales anyway....

If there is one thing Im sure about Jeff is that he would not even think about doing a sequel. His album has never left the limelight, a sequel would take the shine off things. Plus, he's Wellsian, a sequel is not. H_C Yes I think sequels could end up cheapening the whole W.O.T.WORLDS thing even further. There's gonna be enough tacky rip offs and general tat around because of Spielberg and co so I hope Jeff Wayne keeps things as tasteful as possible. Just look at that awful tv series from a few years back.

Everything JW has done has been a success. If he did a sequel (which I still maintain I bet he would if the first were a success), it would be tasetful and likely successful. He sets up the sequel at the end of his album, whether or not he has actually acted upon it since.
Money talks but in addition, he seems to have a great sense of integrity too.
I guess only time will tell..

I really wouldn't want to see a sequel. I think Jeff's version stands on it's own, and a sequel would ruin it. To be honest, what would the sequel be, apart from more or less a retelling of the same events in a modern setting, leading to a "we've seen/heard it all before, mate" scenario.
I don't think money has anything to do with it - the album sales alone still bring in more than enough, and the DVD of the film still more. Jeff loves Wells' novel, and more than happy with his album. I doubt he'd want to add more to what Wells envisaged, even if flashed the cash. As they say, less is more.

I guess only time will tell.. I take it from your postings that you are money orientated and a firm collector of items for future. I deal with such collectibles, I am part of a company that deals with collectibles from all over the world of all types so I now what is 'in' and what is 'out'. However one point I would like to make out is that Jeff's album SPARTACUS (released in 1992) was not a success, yes its recognised but was not a success, and had no where near the cult following that TWOTW had for him, which today still remains his best work. Yes I am a businessman, as is Jeff. I agree Spartacus didn't do as well as TWOTW, but it didn't lose money. Only JW will know whether he will make a sequel, but if he does, I bet it will have all new music and, whether it is set in the future or not, that music will be awesome like the original...

Connections or no connections, business is business. The comic book will run for years and will develop the story. The film, if it makes money, will spawn a sequel. Trust me. In which case I look forward "The Phantom of the Opera Returns"

i would think with somebody like bayne writing the story, a sequel would kick major boo-hiney. has anyone read any of his short stories? the sequel could be about the human invasion of mars, after we've reverse engineered their technology, and now we're not too happy about having a heat ray taken to our country, and its time to give a little back... to take a completely different tact of just the 'same old story, just set in modern times'.

I think a sequel could work, just because it wouldnt be based on any writings by HG Wells it doesnt mean it would be no good. It would have to be well written and carefully thought out so that it worked but it is doable, Jeff Wayne wont do it though as HC has already said he has his own ideas of TWOTW, ideas that have worked fine up to now (lets face it his album kicked butt, and his film undoubtedly will too) so why would he risk all the good he has done on making a sequel that might make sense business wise but might irreparably damage his reputation? (It doesnt matter how much good u do, people will ALWAYS remember the ONE crap thing you did, its a fact).
