hi all, sorry if this has already been discussed, but I was wondering any ideas whether Richard Burton will be used as the narrator?
Before any of you point out the obvious fact that he is dead, he could still be used, I suppose it depends on how much longer they extend the movie from the musical.
If it turns out they need an entirely new narrator, which would be a shame, any ideas who you'd like as the new journalist?

Apparantly there was a lot of dialogue nor used in the final cut of the record.
He could stil be used. I for one would love to see the rteurn of Nigal Hawthron from the game.
"Yes, narrator..."

He's been kind of dead since 1984 (which is ironic as that was also the name of his last film). As Asheraven pointed out though, there was some unused dialogue.. a little of which cropped up on the Ulladubulla album. I doubt Nigel Hawthorne will crop up again though.. he is part of the game not the album. I doubt much further dialogue will really be necessary from Mr. B anyway (which is just as well, unless the psychic Derek Acorah happens to be around to wring some more out of him).

. . and Nigel Hawthorn died a couple of years ago.
I really have no idea if any dialogue will be used in the film like what is on the album. There is extra material recorded but I would guess not enough to last an entire film. We will have to wait and see I guess.

Howabout another Welshman to narrate? Ioan Gruffudd, Matthew Rhys, Anthony Hopkins, Jonathan Pryce.... Although he's not Welsh Sean Pertwee may make a good narrator? Ok ok get your flamethrowers out hehe

I would agree with the choice of Anthony Hopkins or Sean Pertwee if a new Narrator is required.. But I suspect there's enough Burton dialogue to carry (not Carrie) the film.

Hopkins did narrate Spartacus. And quite well me thinks. So he would be an obvious choice if JW wants to use a new narrator.

One thing you are forgetting - does the CGI film really need any narration apart from the opening shot of 'No one would have believed'. I don't think it does, the images will say it all.

Oh.. does that mean that all the rest of Richie's narration is being binned?

Just a couple of ideas for the narrator in the CGI film 1. A Hopkins 2. Brian Blessed (big guy, loud voice, alot of film work etc...) 3. Patrick Stewart 4. John Cleese all of the above are still alive and working so far!?

yes one would imagine it will be a mix of voiceover and first person acted dialogue for the full effect.

Even if they did piece together the old Richard Burton recordings for the new film...one has to assume they're not in the best conditions...I'm no audio major, but wouldn't the dialogue recorded have to be digitally enhanced and repaired to sound right with newly recorded dialogue/singing/effects?
I think Hopkins would be great...but how about someone who can actually sing? It always sort of bothered me Burton never sang any songs...instead he had that male corus sing his feelings for him. Still, his voice was distinctive and powerful.

I think that JW is releacing a big box-set of his album this year and the actual cd (or dvd?) will be re-mastered and put in a new format for surround or something... So mabey they aren't that far off from re-mastering to perfect...
Also what about a sound-alike or a realy good impresionist who can do Mr. Burton?

Nil ;D ps I remember Tom Baker reading The Iron Man on Jackanory when I was small. He did a blinding job and made it all sound quite ominous and creepy.
