This is just something I made in MS Paint. It is my own idea of what the cylinder might look like. This first picture is a diagram showing the major features of it. The attitude jets are used to point the cylinder in space. After leaving Mars, the solar panel doors are jettisoned to allow the solar panels to open for electrical power. The entire service module is separated before the main cylinder body hits the Earth's atmosphere. Here is another picture showing the entire vehicle: Thoughts? Suggestions?

Pretty cool! The only thing I would say is that it needs to look a little less human in design; let your imagination run riot and think mysterious and alien! :-) I'd love to see your interpretation of the inside of the cylinder! Keep up the good work!

Nice. Reminds me a little of a space shuttle crossed with an Apollo-style Command/Service Module.

Here is a logo I made using the design above. The symbols shown are part of an alphabet used in the show "Futurama" to represent an alien language. It simply says "Mars to Earth."

With such rocket tech, the only thing the Martians would have been able to field would be the Martian equivalent of Panzer to M-60 tanks...still, that would be more than the British of 1901 could have dealt with. Give the Martians laser-range-finders for their armor piercing, incendiary, black smoke and high explosive rounds and they still would have owned the British, tech wise!
