Apologies for the size, but if I'm not mistaken, could these be tripods? Phil === First time poster, please be nice.

That is a REALLY good observation. If thats what everyone's looking at they certainly would be reflected in the shiny surface of the car.

Thata a good spot but these shots were probley taken from the set before the tripods were put in,BUT who knows it could be a teaser, that top one certainly looks like a tripod with the saucer type top.

After re-thinking it, perhaps its just a prop to give everyone something to look at and the actual tripod (FM) will be put in as CG later.

Although ive never liked saucer style tripods ,because i would have thought that saucer shaped craft was that shape for reasons to stay airbourne ,so i dont see the point in being that shape if its being suspended by tripod legs.

You know its probably nothing, just some equipment or a sign or whatever but it does look like George Pals swan necked fighting machine but with legs....

I think it may be wishful thinking since if you look carefully at the bottom one, it doesn't look right to me ie it doesn't seem to have a tripod configuration. If anything it appears to have just one leg!
The more I look at them, the more I think its a trick of the light. There may or may not be something actually there but if this was an unaltered scene shot, then why would non existent CGI tripods be reflected at all?!

I cant remember where, but I saw some set pics where an extra had taken shots of a lighting rig used to simulate the tripods before they cgi-ed them in in post, maybe thats whet this is?

The lights were at Athens but didn't look like that shape. More squarish.

We're all crazy here! Comes with the territory! Welcome abroad Phil-San! It could be someone holding up a sign for a visual cue (lollipop man anyone?), but even in reflections, it looks a little big for this. Well spotted though!

Thanks.
I didnt think until after posting that its unlikely that they'll have the finished CG FM in a promotion still, but I was hoping...
I have been scouring every photo I've seen for a chance reflection or any video for a single frame for just a glimpse at a fighting machine or a martian... Its getting to be an obsession.
I have to make do with this photo because they ripped the trailer off the net before I could get a glimpse. :-(
I was hoping I wouldnt have to watch the superbowl, now I suppose I'll have to.

Yeah- me too- by the time I got to my little flat in Surbiton, the trailer and any links were gone. As I said in the Tripod threads, PM's would be most welcome for this new trailer.

Ok, let the real paranoia set in. I was checking this thread in the general discussions, and if you look closely, squint your eyes, stand on one foot and eat a pickle through your nose... dont you think that the odd, vague reflections in the car look like these:

I can't imagine Spielbergs Tripods are going to look like these. They look too 'old fashioned' for a modern movie and to me would make it look too much like a B Movie. At least I hope Spielberg's Tripods are going to be more sophisticated!

Damn, I'm out of pickles. That must be a tripod...it must! Maybe it's just me hoping...you have to admit it resembles something with three legs...
