I was really bored when I decided to turn my tripods into images using Macromedia Fireworks. They're not the best ones you've ever seen and when I get round to it again I'll try and update and make them look a little better. This is my Martian Army (Which by the way goes in order from lowest to highest ranks): Standard tripod type - solider. Officer tripod type - Captain In charge of conquering selected areas and giving orders - Commander Supreme Commander and leader of the Martians and their army - Overlord I most defiently lack Lup's skill but in my opionion these are ok if not sort of lacking everything and half rate. But they give you an idea of my sort of Martian army and ranks. But I like the 3D tripods I made better though.

You could line the pictures up like an Andy Warhol painting. I think they look pretty funky!

I dont like the fact that your machines seem to have two eyes. Where does the Martian sit? Between them? Something like this would give much better 180 degree sight for the pilot (sorry for messing about with your design, but i'm bored too )

The Alvim Correa tripods had two eyes and HG really rated them....

I guess insted of the 'eyes' been windows into the cockpit, they were insted some kind of lenses to give the pilot some kind of better electronic 3D spacial representation of the world outside the hood then i guess i could go with that.
Speaking of Alvim Correa, i love his illustration of the Fighting Machine casting its shadow onto the smoke of a fallen tripod.
But i cant ask him why he decided on the two eye design though.
Is it me or does the word 'cockpit' look wrong when it's written down?

I see your point Loz and I don't mind you messing with my tripod. But who says that there is just one pilot in each machine? Hm, but personally I favour the two eyes because then it doesn't look so much like a cyclops. If you are really wondering I drew my insperation from: I have no idea who drew them but that was the basis of my tripods.

I just had a look on the internet for the Alvim Correa tripods. I think that they look like a water tower that moves.

Love the colours. ;D The idea of different colour machines for the different ranks is cool.

Thanks Luperis. ;D
The idea works both ways: 1) The Martians can swiftly identify their superiors.
2) The humans can identify the officers and kill them.
But presumably the officers wouldn't be traveling around without some sort of escort.

And maybe they'd also have uber-strong armour too - stronger than that of the standard FMs - for more protection?

Yeah.
But presumably the officers would be smart enough not to go directly into the fighting unless they had to. ;D
