Hello, Been a big fan of WOTW since my Dad introduced me to the vinyl gatefold Jeff Wayne musical many many many moons back (though it was always the artwork that struck me the most). I used to lurk in this forum to catch up on all the heated discussion on the much anticipated Timothy Hines film (though i've still not managed to get my hands on a copy). Anyway, i thought i would share my work in progress of my own WOTW scene (it's a mixture of model work and photoshop- i always prefer 'men in rubber suits' and Go-Motion than pure CGI!). I need to work on the legs a little more so that the 'knees' look more functional (sliding bars) and less like plastic melted together. I'm also currently working out how to make rainy effects. With the images i was trying to create some kind of documentary feel and avoid any monumental dramatics. I was hoping the juxtaposition of the fighting machines against a semi-familiar and mundane landscape would be startling enough. I think i was also quite inspired by scenes from 'The Tripods' too.

Wow- really like the look Loz. Nice use of depth of field and silhouetting to give mystery and presence.
You didn't grow up with Transformers, by any chance, did you?

And this is what it looks like at the moment without the gloss (as you can see, if the leg joints did 'slide' it would'nt be able to move forward, only be able to stamp its feet!) ETA: the hood is made from a very cheap toy truck, the heat ray tube is something i found in my tool box, the eye is a press stud, the legs are pieces of a coathanger, the feelers are melted coathanger, the testicle like thing between the legs is the warhead of a rocket which is supposed to sit on the back of the cheap truck and the leg stabilizers are the handles from plastic knives. It's proper Blue Peter style! I wanted to avoid a period look to the martian machine and insted make it look more contemporary (i.e 21st century) which i thought would look more unsettling in a Victoriana setting.

Excellent work, although the tripod in the top picture does look like it's taking a leak on the house!

The image in question was faked by the Martian Daily Mail. It turned out that it was just Martian Territorials who were paid by the news paper to stage the photo.

Nice work! At first I thought it was a 3D render but as I scrolled down the thread and saw the actual model I was impressed by the effort.
What made me chuckle was the original comment in the first post about the legs looking like melted plastic, then I realised you actually meant it. ;D
Keep up the good work!

Yes, well maybe it was 'anticipated' before it came out. But I'll leave that decision up to you.
But on another note - keep up the good work and I hope to see more. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes, before it came out. Everything went a bit quiet after it came out. But on the other hand the advocates of the Speilberg version had nothing to celibrate either after that release. What's the best way for someone in Europe with no credit card to get hold of a copy of the Pendragon version? And thanks for the encouraging comments up there people

I've ordered mine from Amazon, but with Credit Card. The DVD is in Region 1 so you have to have a DVD player that can handle the format.
Very nice model and pictures by the way!
