Happy New Year everyone! For my 50th post, I thought I'd submit my latest piece of WOTW inspired artwork. "The Deputation". This all started with a picture of the Bowl barrow at Horsell Common in Surrey. I then altered the picture turning day into night, and sorta lost my head from there. While certainly not 100% accurate to Wells novel, I tried to remain faithful and produce something a bit more "period" this time around. I hope you enjoy.

Nice. I like the green smoke-trail effect of the cylinder in the background.

Amazing work. I love the background work you did I think the tripod would look better with a smaller head, but very well done altogether.

Brilliant! Just out of curiosity, what was the inspiration for your tripod design? It looks very reminiscent of the B-Movie flying saucers. Can't beat good old fashioned sci-fi Got anymore for us?

Thank you, Redweed! Your presumption is quite accurate! The main "body" of the Tripod was loosely based on on the oldschool flying saucers from the 50's. "The Day the Earth Stood Still", "Earth VS. the Flying Saucers" etc. Stuff I watched 'till all hours of the morning when I was a kid. I also knew I wanted the theme of 3 to be prevalent. Three legs, three tenticles, three parts to the saucer section... I also wanted it to look gyroscopically controlled and somewhat bio-mechanical in nature. (Yes, I dig H.R. Giger. ) Thanks for your post! Got any more for you? Hmmm... Time will tell.

"Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers" is one of my all time favourite sci-fi movies. I think it was the first one I actually saw. Well I shall look forward to more fantastic art

The design of the machine is so ominous, conveying an almost god-like power. A very potent image!
