Here is a picture I drew of a martian flying machine: So, what do you think?

I like it! Looks like it's based on the Jeff Wayne style for the martian machines?
Looks good though, like some sort of metallic bird of prey.

Thank you, MikeH! ;D
Yes it is based on the Jeff wayne style. I drew it just after listening to the CD. It wasn't originally going to be, but that's how it came out...

It somehow reminds me a little of Buster Crabs rocket ship from 'Flash Gordon'.

Looks decent.
Based on Wells description, it's hard to tell any details, so your guess is as good as any...
Big and flat are about the only words defining it.
I did find one curious reference I never noticed before...After the Thunderchild is destroyed the narrator's brother reports "
Something rushed up into the sky out of the greyness--rushed slantingly upward and very swiftly into the luminous clearness above the clouds in the western sky; something flat and broad, and very large, that swept round in a vast curve, grew smaller, sank slowly, and vanished again into the grey mystery of the night. And as it flew it rained down darkness upon the land""
Do you think they used it to spray the black smoke?
