I did this a couple of years ago for a friend. It was a quick concept sketch and I was going to do a proper painting of the scene, but never got round to it. Obviously, I didn't read the book right about the heat-ray being invisible, or on the end of arms/tentacles, or there being a basket on the back.

Nice work, very dramatic, and interesting use of colours!
Are you going to get around to doing a finished version?
Ah, go on... Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, GO ON!!!

I like this a lot...Surely it doesn't need much more doing to it. Go on mate ...finish it off....PLEASE!
PS I'm thinking of doing my own illustration of this scene ,very soon!...Watch this space.

Thanks everyone, and hello!
I love WOTW, particularly the Thunderchild scene. Some day, when work gets a bit quieter I'd love to do a finished painting.

Wow, very awesome and dramatic scene! And very moody. I love the angle you used. Great work Tinckelly.

[glow=Purple,2,300]Very nice! I like it a lot! I don't think it needs re-painting - it works very well as it is.[/glow]

I agree - it has a kind of impressionistic swirl to it, very dynamic.

Oh, that is excellent. Love the sense of movement and the understated use of green. That really emphasises the 'alieness' of the heat ray.
By the way, can I hang it in my front room please? What is the medium you used, acrylics? Oils?
Brilliant, more please.

Thanks a lot chaps! Very kind words.
Phil: It's done in Corel Painter (v.7 if I remember), and a bit of Photoshop.
Of course you can hang it in your front room. If you want I'll email you a link to a higher res version of it so you can do a decent print. Doubt I'll get a chance to do anything else WOTW related artwork though, I'm jacked up with work until late summer.

This is a great pic! If I knew anythign about art I'd say how the colours contrast nicely with the foreground, and the image of the Thunderchild itself is well countpointed to the tripods...but I'm not an artist, so I'll just say it's a great picture and I would very much like to get a framed print! ;D
